Denoe Leedy
(Charles) Denoe Leedy (born January 19, 1900, Baltimore, Maryland - d. October 23, 1964, South Hadley, Massachusetts) was a classical pianist, music educator and music journalist. Charles Denoe Leedy was a graduate of the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. He also studied music in New York with Harold Bauer and Ernest Bloch and in Paris with Nadia Boulanger.The New York Times, obituary, "Prof. C. Denoe Leedy of Mt. Gene Leedy
Gene Leedy (February 6, 1928 – November 24, 2018) was an American architect based in Winter Haven, Florida. He was a pioneer of the modern movement in Florida and later a founder of the Sarasota School of Architecture, whose members included Paul Rudolph, Victor Lundy, and others. After beginning his career in Sarasota, Leedy moved his practice to Winter Haven in 1954. He is best known for his bold use of precast concrete, especially in long-span, "double-tee" structural elements. Personal life Gene Leedy was born to Cecil Hudgins Leedy and Ethyl Ferguson Leedy on February 6, 1928 in Isaban, West Virginia. Cecil was a supervisor for a coal mining company, and Ethyl taught in a one-room schoolhouse. The family eventually moved to Gainesville, Florida, where Cecil opened a small restaurant. Harold Gavin Leedy
Harold Gavin Leedy (December 6, 1892 – July 28, 1989) was president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 1941 to 1961. Leedy was born in Benton, Missouri, U.S. His family moved to Cameron, Missouri when he was a child. He graduated from William Jewell College. He interrupted his studies at what was then called the Kansas City School of Law (now University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law) to join the Army during World War I World War I (28 July 1914 11 November 1918), often abbreviated as WWI, was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history. Robert Franklin Leedy (28 July 1863 – 12 January 1924) was a lawyer, soldier, and Virginia state legislator. Early life and education Robert Franklin Leedy was born at Leedy's Pump, Rockingham County, Virginia, a son of John (1826–1889) and Sarah Ann Mauck Leedy (1830–1896). At the time of R.F. Leedy's birth, his father was on detailed service from the Confederate army to conduct farming operations. John Leedy served one year in the 10th Virginia Infantry before being detailed to this service. Like his father, Robert was initially a farmer, working on the family farm until the age of 22. He received a basic education in the common schools of his county of birth. Career After leaving home at the age of 22, Leedy spent the next three years mining and railroading.
