Lee Wai See
Sarah Lee Wai-sze, Bronze Bauhinia Star, BBS, Medal of Honour (Hong Kong), MH (; born 12 May 1987) is a Hong Kong professional Track cycling, track cyclist. Her greatest success to date is winning the bronze medal in the Cycling at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's keirin, women's keirin at the 2012 London Olympics, Hong Kong's third-Hong Kong at the Olympics, ever Olympic medal and first in cycling. She won a second Olympic bronze medal in the Cycling at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's sprint, women's sprint at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, making her the first and only Hong Kong athlete to win medals in two different Olympic Games. Track Cycling
Track cycling is a bicycle racing sport usually held on specially built banked tracks or velodromes using purpose-designed track bicycles. History Track cycling has been around since at least 1870. When track cycling was in its infancy, it was held on velodromes similar to the ones used today. These velodromes consisted of two straights and slightly banked turns, though they varied more in length and material than the modern 250m track. One appeal of indoor track racing was that spectators could be easily controlled, and hence an entrance fee could be charged, making track racing a lucrative sport. Early track races attracted crowds of up to 2,000 people. Indoor tracks also enabled year-round cycling for the first time. 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships were the World Championships for track cycling in 2016. They took place in London in the Lee Valley VeloPark from 2–6 March 2016. As the last major track cycling event prior to the 2016 Summer Olympics, the championships were particularly important for cyclists and national teams aiming to qualify for the track cycling competitions at Rio 2016. Hosts Great Britain finished top of the medals table with five gold, one silver and three bronze medals. Preparations Tickets prices for the 12 different sessions ranged between £15 and £90, with student and over 60s discounts available. Higher priced tickets were tickets with better seating locations, afternoon (final) sessions and the sessions at the weekend. UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The UCI Track Cycling World Championships are the set of world championship events for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling. They are regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale. Before 1900, they were administered by the UCI's predecessor, the International Cycling Association (ICA). Current events include: time trial, keirin, individual pursuit, team pursuit, points race, scratch race, sprint, team sprint, omnium and madison. Women's events are generally shorter than men's. Cycling At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's Sprint
The women's sprint event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place from 6 to 8 August 2021 at the Izu Velodrome. 30 cyclists from 18 nations competed.
