Lee Jong-seok (politician)
Lee Jong-seok (born May 11, 1958) is a former South Korean Minister of Unification and chairman of the National Security Council, having succeeded Chung Dong-young on February 10, 2006. His appointment was controversial as certain lawmakers wanted to separate the two posts, while others were troubled by questions raised during his confirmation hearings over his apparent failure to properly brief President Roh Moo-hyun. Prior to his appointment, he had been the council's deputy chief. He was a member of the ruling Uri Party. A graduate of Sungkyunkwan University who spent most of his career as an academic, he authored the 2000 book ''"Understanding Contemporary North Korea"''. Ministry Of Unification
The Ministry of Unification is an executive department of the South Korean government aimed at promoting Korean reunification. It was first established in 1969 as the ''National Unification Board'', under the rule of Park Chung-hee. It gained its current status in 1998 and has played a major role in promoting inter-Korean dialogues, exchanges and cooperation. Under previous minister Yu Woo-ik, the ministry consisted of one office for planning and coordination; three bureaus for unification policy, inter-Korean exchanges and cooperation, and humanitarian cooperation; one special bureau for the Gaeseong Industrial Complex project; and five affiliated agencies on unification education, inter-Korean dialogue, transit between the South and the North, settlement support for dislocated North Koreans and inter-Korean consultations on exchanges and cooperation. Lee Jong-seok (judge)
Lee Jong-seok ( born 21 February 1961) is the 8th President of the Constitutional Court of Korea, appointed by President Yoon Suk Yeol in November 2023. Life and career Lee was born on 21 February 1961 in Chilgok, South Korea. He graduated Kyeongbuk High School and Seoul National University School of Law, passed 25th National bar exam, and completed 15th Judicial Research and Training Institute program. He started his legal career as trial court judge at Incheon District Court in 1989 after discharging from mandatory military service as judge advocate. During almost thirty years of his public service as lower ordinary court judge, he was renowned for expertise in affairs of court administration and litigations on bankruptcy. The President of the Constitutional Court of Korea () is the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court of Korea. As presiding judge of Full bench composed of nine Justices, the President represents the Constitutional Court of Korea. The President of the Constitutional Court of Korea is regarded as one of two equivalent heads of judicial branch in Government of South Korea.
