Lee Creek Bridge (Van Buren, Arkansas)
The Lee Creek Bridge is a historic bridge across Lee Creek in Van Buren, Arkansas. Now closed to traffic, it is a three-span truss bridge located west of Rena Road on the city's west side. The bridge's single Pratt through truss was built in 1898, and a pair of Warren pony trusses were erected in 1930 to replace a second Pratt truss. The trusses rest on original stone piers. The bridge has a total length of , of which is the Pratt truss. The bridge was bypassed and closed in 1995. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010. Lee Creek (Arkansas)
Lee Creek is a river in Arkansas and Oklahoma which starts near West Fork in Washington County, Arkansas, and flows south to the Arkansas River passing through Crawford County, Arkansas, and Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. Lee Creek flows from Arkansas into Oklahoma, then returns to Arkansas before its confluence with the Arkansas River near Van Buren and Fort Smith. Lee Creek is also known as Lee's Creek, mostly in Oklahoma where it is classified by the State of Oklahoma as a State Scenic River. In Arkansas upstream of the Oklahoma border, Lee Creek is classified by the State of Arkansas as an Extraordinary Resource Waterway. Van Buren, Arkansas
Van Buren ( ) is the second-largest city in the Fort Smith, Arkansas–Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area and the county seat of Crawford County, Arkansas, United States. The city is located directly northeast of Fort Smith at the Interstate 40 – Interstate 540 junction. The city was incorporated in 1845 and as of the 2010 census had a population of 22,791, ranking it as the state's 22nd-largest city, behind Searcy. The Lee Creek Bridge in Natural Dam, Arkansas was a Pennsylvania through truss bridge that was built in 1934. It was a twin-span bridge with a total length of , which carried Arkansas Highway 59 across Lee Creek. It rested on concrete piers and abutments, had a vertical clearance of and had a roadbed wide. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, at which time it was one of four surviving Pennsylvania through truss bridges in the state. Another bridge, in Van Buren, also crosses Lee Creek and is listed on the National Register. This bridge was demolished and replaced in early 2018, and was removed from the National Register early in 2019.
