Ledgewood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Roxbury Township, Morris County, New Jersey, United States. It was historically known as Drakesville after Abraham Drake, originally from Piscataway, New Jersey, who operated a mill and tavern here in the mid-1700s. The community was located on the Morris Canal. The name changed to Ledgewood on January 1, 1892. The area is served as United States Postal Service ZIP Code 07852. As of the 2020 census, the population was 4,903. Geography Ledgewood is in western Morris County, in the western part of Roxbury Township. The CDP is bordered to the north by Landing, to the northeast by the borough of Mount Arlington, to the east by Kenvil, and to the south by Succasunna. Delaware Water Gap
The Delaware Water Gap is a water gap on the border of the U.S. states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania where the Delaware River cuts through a large ridge of the Appalachian Mountains. The gap makes up the southern portion of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which is used primarily for recreational purposes, such as canoeing, fishing, hiking, and rock climbing. Though the US National Park Service manages the National Recreation Area, portions of the water gap are also patrolled by New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry. The park does not charge an entrance fee but does have expanded amenity fees, including vehicle season and daily passes, bicycles amenity fees, and charges for beach use. Kenvil is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Roxbury Township, in Morris County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 1,806. History The Kenvil section of Roxbury Township was originally called McCainsville. Kenvil was home to the second dynamite plant in the United States, established in 1872 by the Atlantic Giant Powder Company. After acquisition of the plant by the Hercules Powder Company in 1913, it also manufactured smokeless powder. The company experienced several major explosions, killing six people in 1934, 51 people in 1940, and shattering windows across town in 1989. Geography Kenvil is in west-central Morris County and occupies the eastern part of Roxbury Township. Mount Arlington is a borough in western Morris County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.
