Lechuck
LeChuck is a fictional character in LucasArts' ''Monkey Island'' series of graphic adventure games. Created by Ron Gilbert, LeChuck was introduced in ''The Secret of Monkey Island'' and is the main antagonist of the series. Gilbert drew on aspects of the characters in the 1988 novel ''On Stranger Tides'' for his concept for LeChuck. An undead pirate captain, LeChuck is obsessed with pursuing the affections of the series' heroine, Elaine Marley, and exacting revenge upon protagonist Guybrush Threepwood, who is responsible for consistently thwarting his plans; at some points, he is depicted as being Guybrush's brother. LeChuck is not limited to one incarnation and has been depicted variously as a ghost, a zombie, and a demon, among other forms. While sometimes gullible and naïve, LeChuck is a powerful and intelligent villain, making extensive use of voodoo magic in his megalomaniacal plans. The character of LeChuck was very well received by video game critics, and has appeared ...

Guybrush Threepwood
Guybrush Ulysses Threepwood is a fictional character who serves as the main protagonist of the ''Monkey Island'' series of computer adventure games by LucasArts. Guybrush is voiced by actor Dominic Armato in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth games, as well as the enhanced remakes of ''The Secret of Monkey Island'' and '' Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge''. Though a "mighty pirate" by his own account, he is a rather clumsy and disorganized protagonist throughout the series. It is a running joke throughout the games for characters to garble Guybrush Threepwood's unusual name, either deliberately or accidentally. Name The origin of the name "Guybrush" comes in part from Deluxe Paint, the tool used by the artists to create the character sprite. Since the character had no name at this point, the file was simply called "". When the file was saved, Steve Purcell, the artist responsible for the sprite, added "" to the filename, indicating that it was the Deluxe Paint "brush file" for ...

Created by Ron Gilbert for LucasArts, the character first appears in ''The Secret of Monkey Island'' and is one of the core characters in the franchise. LeChuck's Revenge
''Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge'' is an adventure game developed and published by LucasArts in 1991. A sequel to 1990's ''The Secret of Monkey Island'', it is the second game in the ''Monkey Island'' series. It was the sixth LucasArts game to use the SCUMM engine, and the first game to use the iMUSE sound system. In it, pirate Guybrush Threepwood searches for the legendary treasure of Big Whoop and again faces off against the pirate LeChuck, who is now a zombie. The development team for ''Monkey Island 2'' was largely the same as for ''The Secret of Monkey Island''. The project was led by Ron Gilbert, who was again joined by Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman (game developer), Dave Grossman. The game was a critical success, but a commercial disappointment. ''Monkey Island 2'' was followed by ''The Curse of Monkey Island'' in 1997; the third game in the series had to deal with the predecessor's ambiguous ending and to vaguely explain it. In 2022, a sixth game ''Return to Monkey Isl ...
