Lebogang Maile
Lebogang Isaac Maile (born 26 December 1979) is a South African politician currently serving as Gauteng's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development. A member of the African National Congress (ANC), he has served in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature since May 2009 and in the Gauteng Executive Council since 2010. Maile is a former president of the Congress of South African Students and chaired the Gauteng branch of the ANC Youth League from 2010 to 2013. In subsequent years he held the portfolios of MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation from November 2010 to May 2014; MEC for Economic Development from May 2014 to May 2019; and MEC for Human Settlements, Urban Planning and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from May 2019 until October 2022, when he was appointed to his current position. In South Africa, the Executive Council of a province is the cabinet of the provincial government. The Provincial Executive Committees (PEC) of the African National Congress (ANC) are the chief executive organs of the party's nine provincial branches. Comprising the so-called Top Five provincial officials and up to 30 additional elected members, each is structured similarly to the ANC's National Executive Committee and is elected every four years at party provincial conferences. Paul Shipokosa Mashatile (born 21 October 1961) is a South African politician who is currently the Deputy President of the governing African National Congress (ANC). Before his election to that position in December 2022, he was ANC Treasurer General from December 2017 and acting ANC Secretary General from January 2022. Formerly an anti-apartheid activist in the United Democratic Front, Mashatile was a member of President Jacob Zuma's first cabinet, serving as Minister of Arts and Culture between 2010 and 2014. Before that, he was briefly Premier of Gauteng province from 2008 to 2009. Centurion, South Africa
Centurion (previously known as Verwoerdburg and before that Lyttelton) is an area with 236,580 inhabitants (2011 census) in the Gauteng Province of South Africa, between Pretoria and Midrand (Johannesburg). 2009 South African General Election
General elections were held in South Africa on 22 April 2009 to elect members of the National Assembly and provincial legislatures. These were the fourth general elections held since the end of the apartheid era. The North Gauteng High Court ruled on 9 February 2009 that South African citizens living abroad should be allowed to vote in elections. The judgment was confirmed by the Constitutional Court on 12 March 2009, when it decided that overseas voters who were already registered would be allowed to vote. Registered voters who found themselves outside their registered voting districts on election day were also permitted to vote for the national ballot at any voting station in South Africa. Julius Sello Malema (born 3 March 1981) is a South African politician and activist who is a Member of Parliament and the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), a left-wing party which he founded in 2013.
