Leandro Somoza
Leandro Daniel Somoza (born 26 January 1981) is an Argentine football coach and former player who played as a defensive midfielder. Club career Somoza began his professional career playing for Vélez Sársfield in the Argentine Primera in 2001. He played for the club for five years, and was a key player in the 2005 Clausura tournament winning team. In 2006, Somoza was transferred to La Liga club Villarreal CF on a five-year contract. He joined fellow countrymen Juan Román Riquelme, Gonzalo Rodríguez, Rodolfo Arruabarrena, Fabricio Fuentes and Mariano Barbosa. However, Somoza spent only one season with Villarreal, being loaned in August 2007 to Real Betis. The 2013–14 Primera División season was the 123rd season of top-flight professional football in Argentina. It started on August 2, 2013 and ended on May 24, 2014. 2012 Copa Libertadores
The 2012 Copa Libertadores de América (officially the 2012 Copa Santander Libertadores for sponsorship reasons) was the 53rd edition of the Copa Libertadores de América, South America's premier international club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. It ran from January 24 to July 4, 2012. Santos were the defending champions, but lost to Corinthians in the semifinals. São Paulo-based club Corinthians won the competition, with an undefeated campaign, after defeating six-time champion Boca Juniors in the finals. It is Corinthians' first Libertadores title. The 2011–12 Copa Argentina was the third edition of the Copa Argentina, and the first since 1970. The competition began on August 31, 2011 and ended on August 8, 2012. The tournament featured 186 clubs from the top five levels of the Argentine football league system. The winner (Boca Juniors) qualified for the 2012 Copa Sudamericana. The 2008-09 Primera División season was the 118th season of top-flight professional football in Argentina and the nineteenth season in which the Apertura and Clausura system is used. Boca Juniors won the Apertura championship for their 29th national title after a three team playoff with Tigre and San Lorenzo. The Clausura championship was won by Vélez Sársfield for their 7th national title. Gimnasia y Esgrima (J) and San Martín (T) were relegated to the Primera B Nacional. Mariano Barbosa
Mariano Damián Barbosa (born 27 July 1984) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. Club career Born in Lanús, Buenos Aires, Barbosa started his career with Club Atlético Banfield in 2002. In 2005, he was signed by Spanish club Villarreal CF for a fee of €2 million alongside another player in his position, Sebastián Viera. Barbosa served mainly as reserve at Villarreal, but filled in for Viera in several games, most notably in the semi-finals of the 2005–06 UEFA Champions League against Arsenal. Fabricio Fuentes
Fabricio Fabio Fuentes (born 13 October 1976) is an Argentine retired footballer who played as a central defender. He competed professionally, other than in his country, in France, Mexico and Spain, amassing Primera División totals of 218 games and 18 goals over the course of ten seasons. Club career Fuentes was born in Las Acequias. He began his career playing for Newell's Old Boys in 1996, leaving the following year for Quilmes Atlético Club in the Argentine second division before rejoining Newell's in 1998. In 2001, Fuentes was signed for his first spell at Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield, on a US$450,000 fee (for 50% of his transfer rights). In January 2003 he was sold to Mexican club Querétaro F.C. for US$1,200,000 but, in the transfer agreement, it was established that the player would stay with Vélez until the end of the season.
