League Teams
''League Teams'' (formerly known as AFL Teams) was a weekly Australian sports television series based on the Australian Football League (AFL) that airs on Fox Footy. It was shown on Thursdays at 6:30pm, to coincide with that round's team announcements. Hosted by Dermott Brereton, it also featured members of the Fox Footy's commentary team every week during the AFL season. A predecessor show with the same name and same general format was screened by HSV-7 in Melbourne in the 1960s and 1970s. It featured a panel of three well known former players, Lou Richards, Jack Dyer and Bob Davis. It was shown late on Thursday nights during the football season. History The show was launched on the original iteration of Fox Footy Channel in 2002, and was hosted by Jason Dunstall. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. The VFL, aiming to become a national competition, began expanding beyond Victoria to other Australian states in the 1980s, and changed its name to the AFL in 1990. The league currently consists of 18 teams spread over five of Australia's six states (Tasmania being the exception). Matches have been played in all states, plus the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory, as well as in New Zealand and China to expand the league's audience. Seven Network
The Seven Network (commonly known as Channel Seven or simply Seven) is a major Australian commercial free-to-air Television broadcasting in Australia, television network. It is owned by Seven West Media, Seven West Media Limited, and is one of five main free-to-air television networks in Australia. The network's headquarters are located in Sydney. As of 2014, it is the second-largest network in the country in terms of population reach. The Seven Network shows various nonfiction shows—such as news broadcasts (''Seven News'') and sports programing—as well as fiction shows. In 2011, the network won all 40 out of 40 weeks of the ratings season for total viewers, being the first to achieve this since the introduction of the OzTAM ratings system in 2001. Fox Footy Original Programming
Foxes are small to medium-sized, omnivorous mammals belonging to several genera of the family Canidae. Fox Sports is the brand name for a number of sports channels, broadcast divisions, programming, and other media around the world. Liam Pickering
Liam Michael Pickering (born 9 September 1968) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club and the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). His father, Michael Pickering, also played for North Melbourne. He was the first ever Liam to play AFL/VFL and the only Liam until Liam Picken made his debut in round 2 2009. Sporting career He played 22 games with North Melbourne from 1989–1992, and 102 games with Geelong from 1993–1999, before his retirement from AFL football. Cameron Mooney
Cameron Mooney (born 26 September 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the North Melbourne and Geelong Football Clubs in the Australian Football League (AFL). A forward, tall and weighing , Mooney is renowned for his passion, as well as his poor tribunal history where he holds the record for the most suspensions in a single season by a VFL/AFL player. Mooney was selected in the 2007 All-Australian Team, and was part of Geelong's AFL premiership-winning team in the same year. He also represented the Dream Team state team in the AFL Hall of Fame Tribute Match in 2008, as well as being the leading goalkicker for Geelong in 2007. David Alex Parkin, OAM (born 12 September 1942) is a former Australian rules footballer and coach who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and for the Subiaco Football Club in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL). However, Parkin's stature in the history of Australian rules football is based mainly on his achievements as a coach. Building on his experience as a player and educator, Parkin won four premierships (one at Hawthorn, three at Carlton) and is considered one of the most influential coaches of the modern era. Barry Hall
Barry Hall (born 8 February 1977) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club, Sydney Swans and Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is considered to be one of the best forwards of the modern era, being named All-Australian, leading his club's goalkicking on eleven occasions and captaining the Sydney Swans to their 2005 AFL Grand Final victory. In July 2011, Hall created history by becoming the first player to kick 100 goals for three AFL teams. Tony Shaw (Australian Rules Footballer)
Anthony Shaw (born 23 July 1960) is a former Australian rules footballer, coach and media personality who played for the Collingwood Football Club. Playing career Collingwood Football Club Shaw was recruited to Collingwood from Reservoir-Lakeside to make his debut in 1977 alongside brother Ray. He was a small midfielder at 170 cm who didn't have the natural ability or quality skills of others but his courage and determination made him a fine rover. He did struggle in his early years to cement a senior position in the team. Shaw played in the 1980–1981 losing Grand Final sides. Ben Dixon (born 14 June 1977) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was the selected by Hawthorn at pick number 77 as a fifth round selection in the 1994 national draft.
