Lea Plchová
Lea Plchová (born 31 August 1956) is a former professional tennis player. Personal background Her mother Ludmila was a tennis coach and is credited with discovering tennis player Jana Novotná, having spotted Jana on a playground in the neighbourhood she worked. Impressed with her mobility, Ludmila convinced Jana's parents to take her to train at a tennis centre where she worked. Tennis career Plchová's best performance on the WTA Tour was a runner-up finish at the 1982 edition of the Austrian Open, losing the final to Virginia Ruzici. At the 1983 French Open, she made her Grand Slam main-draw debut with appearances in both the singles and doubles draws. She played again at the 1984 French Open in the doubles. Plchová featured in the main draw of the singles at the 1985 Wimbledon Championships as a lucky loser, with Rafaella Reggi withdrawing due to illness. Hu Na ( zh, c=胡娜, p=Hú Nà; born April 16, 1963) is a former professional tennis player best known for defecting from the People's Republic of China to the United States in 1982, thereby sparking a Cold War-era diplomatic incident. Carina Karlsson (born 11 September 1963) is a former professional tennis player from Sweden. She was nicknamed "Kid Carina". Biography Karlsson is most noted for being the first qualifier to reach the ladies quarterfinals of Wimbledon, which she achieved at the 1984 Wimbledon Championships. She began the main draw with wins over Anne White and Christiane Jolissaint, then defeated former Wimbledon champion Virginia Wade in the third round, 11–9 in the deciding set. In the fourth round she upset 15th seed Andrea Temesvári to set up a quarterfinal against Chris Evert-Lloyd, which Evert won in straight sets. Raffaella Reggi (; born 27 November 1965) is an Italian TV pundit and former professional tennis player. Career As a junior, Reggi won the Orange Bowl 16 and under in 1981. She was a member of the Continental Players Cup Team in 1982. Reggi won the mixed doubles title at the US Open in 1986, partnering Sergio Casal. She was a singles quarter-finalist at the French Open in 1987, and reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 13 in 1988. One of the highlights of her career was winning the Italian Open in 1985. In 1985 she became the first Italian woman to win the Italian Open since Annelies Ullstein-Bossi won in 1950.
