Le Shok
Le Shok was an American electropunk band from Long Beach, California. The band was made up of members of various other punk bands from the area and existed from 1997 until early 2001, releasing numerous seven-inch records and splits, releasing one full-length album, and touring the United States twice. Biography Le Shok formed in 1997 (originally under the name the Shock) by Asshole Andrew (Treadwell) on guitar, Joey Juvenile (The Locust) on drums, and Hot Rod Todd on vocals. After hearing a rehearsal tape, Darryl Licht (Action League) joined the band on keyboards and Over the Counter Rusty (Treadwell) joined as bassist. The band released four seven-inch records on various labels, and in 2000, Gold Standard Laboratories released the band's sole album, ''We Are Electrocution'', and the band went on a nationwide tour of the United States. Kent McClard is a record label owner and zine publisher from Goleta, California. Early life McClard grew up in a "broken home" and describes himself as a troublesome child. As a teenager, he discovered hardcore punk and both its freedom and specific ethics influenced him deeply and helped to "define" his life. From then on, he began several DIY enterprises, including the first show and the first fanzine of his town. Ebullition Records In early 1990, the former ''Maximumrocknroll'' columnist started Ebullition Records with contributions from Sonia Skindrud (writer of the zine ''Exedra'') and Brent Stephens (member of Downcast). Skindrud came up with the name and Stephens drew the logo, but the label is primarily run by McClard. Los Angeles hardcore band Inside Out was meant to record an LP as the first Ebullition release. ''Maximumrocknroll'', often written as ''Maximum Rocknroll'' and usually abbreviated as ''MRR'', is a not-for-profit monthly zine of punk subculture. Based in San Francisco, ''MRR'' focuses on punk rock and hardcore music, and primarily features artist interviews and music reviews. Op/ed columns and news roundups are regular features as well, including submissions from international contributors. By 1990, it "had become the de facto bible of the scene". Ink & Dagger were a hardcore punk band from Philadelphia that was active in the 1990s. The two permanent members throughout the band's career were guitarist Don Devore and vocalist Sean Patrick McCabe. Other members included Ashli State, Terry Yerves, Ryan McLaughlin, Joshua Brown, Jennifer Layne Park, Dave Wagenschutz, Derek Zglenski, and Eric Wareheim. Band members frequently incorporated references to vampires in their music, painted their faces, and played with fake blood. Some members were previously in Crud is a Cult, The Mandela Strike Force and Frail. On-stage theatrics On one occasion, the band vomited on Christmas trees on stage. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family.
