Le Prese Railway Station
Le Prese railway station is a railway station in the village of Le Prese, within the municipality of Poschiavo and canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. It is located on the Bernina line of the Rhaetian Railway. The station is located in the road, and comprises a single track within the carriageway, with a single kerbside platform and a roadside station building. To the north of the station, the line continues to share the street with road traffic as it passes through the village of Le Prese, before reaching the passing loop of Spinadascio. To the south, as far as Miralago, the line runs between the road and Lago di Poschiavo. The station opened on 1 July 1908 with the opening of the Tirano to Poschiavo section of the Bernina line. Originally train services halted directly in front of the entrance to the hotel, and until 1975 the station had a passing loop. Rhaetian Railway
The Rhaetian Railway (german: Rhätische Bahn; it, Ferrovia retica; rm, Viafier retica), abbreviated RhB, is a Swiss transport company that owns the largest network of all private railway operators in Switzerland. Headquartered in Chur, the RhB operates all the railway lines of the Swiss canton of Grisons, except for the line from Sargans to the cantonal capital, Chur, which are operated by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS), as well as the line from Disentis/Mustér to the Oberalp Pass and further on to Andermatt, Uri, which is operated by Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB). The Bernina Railway (german: Berninalinie; it, Linea del Bernina; rm, Lingia dal Bernina) is a single-track railway line forming part of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB). It links the spa resort of St. Moritz, in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland, with the town of Tirano, in the Province of Sondrio, Italy, via the Bernina Pass. Le Prese
Le Prese is a village in the Val Poschiavo in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. It lies at above sea level at the northern end of Lago di Poschiavo, and is in the municipality of Poschiavo, some south of the village of the same name. The Poschiavino river enters the lake by the village. Both the Hauptstrasse 29, main road through the Val Poschiavo and the Bernina railway pass through the village, with the railway sharing the carriageway with road traffic in places, and running alongside the road in others. Le Prese railway station is situated in the centre of the village, on the shared carriageway section of the line. In the middle of the 19th century, Le Prese was developed as a spa town, with the 1856 construction of the spa building and further improvements in 1861. Lago di Poschiavo is a natural lake in the Val di Poschiavo in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. Geography It has an elevation is , a length of , a surface area of and a maximum depth of . Bernina Express
The Bernina Express is a train connecting Chur (or Davos) in Switzerland to Poschiavo in Switzerland and Tirano in Italy by crossing the Swiss Engadin Alps. For most of its journey, the train also runs along the World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes. The train is operated by the Rhaetian Railway company for the purpose of sightseeing. It takes the form of an enhanced regional service between Tirano and Chur or Davos: panoramic coaches with enlarged windows and multi-lingual (English, Italian and German) audio guide on board.
