Lawson Roll
Lawson Macgregor Roll (born 8 March 1965) is a former English cricketer. Roll was a right-handed Batsman (cricket), batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, Thornbury, Gloucestershire. Roll made his only first-class cricket, first-class appearance for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club, Gloucestershire against the touring Sri Lanka national cricket team, Sri Lankans in 1984. In this match he wasn't required to bat and with the ball he bowled 15 wicket-less over (cricket), overs. He later played 2 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches for the Gloucestershire Cricket Board, against Wiltshire County Cricket Club, Wiltshire in 1999 and Herefordshire County Cricket Club, Herefordshire in 2000. His grandfather, Henry Roll, played a first-class match for Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Warwickshire in 1927. Thornbury, South Gloucestershire
Thornbury is a market town and civil parish in the South Gloucestershire Unitary authorities of England, unitary authority area of England, about 12 miles (19 km) north of Bristol. MCCA Knockout Trophy
The National Counties Cricket Association Knockout Cup was started in 1983 as a knockout one-day competition for the National Counties in English cricket. At first it was known as the ''English Industrial Estates Cup'', before being called the ''Minor Counties Knock Out Competition'' from 1986 to 1987, the ''Holt Cup'' from 1988 to 1992, the ''MCC Trophy'' from 1993 to 1998, the ''ECB 38-County Cup'' from 1999 to 2002, the ''MCCA Knockout Trophy'' from 2003 to 2005. It has been called the ''MCCA Trophy'' since 2006 until its current rebranding in 2020. From 1998 to 2002, the competition was contested by 38 teams and included a group stage.
