Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium
Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. It is currently used mostly for association football matches. The stadium holds 28,000 and was opened on 23 September 1983. It was named after Bruneian Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. Construction Unusually for a public building in Brunei, members of the public donated and contributed towards the building of the stadium. Although the final collection of $1,102,761.57 accounted for a little more than 1.1 percent of the total building cost ($100 million), the public participation showed the Bruneians' great interest and support for this project. Hajah Amalia Haji Matali (born 24 January 1977) is an international lawn bowler from Brunei Darussalam. Bowls career Matali has represented Brunei Darussalam at the Commonwealth Games, in the pairs event at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Siti Zalina Ahmad (born 2 June 1979) is a Malaysian international lawn bowler. Bowls career Siti Zalina Ahmad is from Perak, in Malaysia and is one of only two women to have won two Commonwealth Games singles Gold medals. After watching a game of hockey in 1995 she saw a lawn bowls match and decided to take up the sport.
