Law Teik Hock
Law Teik Hock (; 4 July 1922 – 13 July 2010) was a Malaysian badminton player from George Town, Penang. Badminton career Law won the first edition of Thomas Cup with the Malayan team in 1949. In the final against Denmark, Law was promoted to first singles after Wong Peng Soon was forced to skip the final due to an injury. In his first singles, he defeated Jørn Skaarup 15-5, 15-0 but lost 15-11, 15-1 to Mogen Felsby in the reverse singles. In 1948, Law partnered Eddy Choong to a historic victory at the Penang Open. The Malaysia Open is an annual badminton tournament that has been held since 1937. It has been played in various locations such as Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang, Selangor, and Kuantan. The event's annual pattern was interrupted three times: from 1942 to 1946, because of World War II, from 1969 to 1982, and in 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It became one of the BWF Super Series tournaments from 2007 to 2017 known as the Malaysia Super Series. Ooi Teik Hock (; born 13 November 1920 – 21 March 1983) was a male badminton player from Malaysia who won Malayan national titles and represented his country in team and individual competition between 1939 and 1958. Eddy Choong
Dato' Choong Ewe Beng (29 May 1931 – 28 January 2013) was a Malaysian badminton player. He was David Choong's brother and they played men's doubles together. Early life Choong Ewe Beng, also known as Eddy, was born on May 29, 1931, and was the third son of a wealthy family in Penang. His parents were named Dato' Choong Eng Hai and Datin Ho Guat Im. Choong first went to primary and secondary school in Penang before moving to England at the turn of the 1950s to study law and medicine. His passion for the sport quickly eclipsed his studies and Eddy later said his studies were “long forgotten”. In the UK, Eddie was much attracted to the Jim Russell School of racing driving and enrolled, but parental pressure forced him to re-think his priorities. Wong Peng Soon
Wong Peng Soon, (; 17 February 1917 – 22 May 1996) was a Malayan/Singaporean badminton player who reigned as a top player in Malaya from the 1930s to the 1950s when it was a single nation. Noted for his smooth but powerful strokes and graceful footwork, he won the singles title seven times in Singapore and eight times in Malaya during this period, as well as being the top player in the All England, the Danish Open, the Indian and Philippines championships to name a few. Acknowledged as one of the greatest badminton players of all time, he won the All England singles title four times in only five attempts and dominated the Thomas Cup in the late 1940s to the mid 1950s as a member of the Malayan teams.
