The electoral district of Tarneit is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was created before the 2002 election where it replaced the seat of Werribee. The seat is located in the south western suburbs of Melbourne, including Tarneit, Williams Landing, Truganina and the eastern parts of Hoppers Crossing. It is a safe seat for the Labor Party with a current margin of 14.6%. The first member for the seat, elected in 2002, was Mary Gillett, formerly member for abolished Werribee. The Kororoit Creek is a watercourse of the Port Phillip catchment, rising in the outer north western suburbs of Melbourne, in the Australian state of Victoria. Location and features The Kororoit Creek rises below Mount Kororoit, northeast of in the north western outer suburbs of Melbourne. The creek's headwaters are north of at approximately above sea level in ordovician geology. The creek flows generally south by east and passes over the volcanic lava plain of western Melbourne to its mouth at sea level, north of and emptying into Altona Bay within Port Phillip. The creek is joined by one minor tributary as it descends approximately over its course. West Gate Freeway
The West Gate Freeway is a major freeway in Melbourne, the busiest urban freeway and the busiest road in Australia, carrying upwards of 200,000 vehicles per day. It links Geelong (via the Princes Freeway) and Melbourne's western suburbs to central Melbourne and beyond. It is also a link between Melbourne and the west and linking industrial and residential areas west of the Yarra River with the city and port areas. The West Gate Bridge is a part of the freeway. Federation Trail
The Federation Trail is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which mainly follows the heritage-listed Main Outfall Sewer through the western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. There are three bridges spanning across major arterial roads, as well as button-activated traffic light crossings at most other major road-trail intersections. For safety reasons, cyclists are no longer allowed to ride on the metropolitan section of the Princes Freeway (or any other urban freeway). The Federation Trail therefore is the preferred alternative route. West of Werribee, where the Federation Trail ends, Geelong-bound cyclists may use the freeway shoulders, as it is then considered a rural freeway. The trail was officially opened on 22 October 2006.
