Lauter (Danube)
The Lauter, also: ''Große Lauter'', is a small river of the Swabian Alb, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its Karst spring is inside the walls of the former nunnery at "Offenhausen", a small settlement near Gomadingen. The river discharges into the Danube after 42 km. The river has a long geological history since late Miocene. Although the Swabian Alb is heavily karstified, this river's water runs aboveground all the way. The municipality of Lauterach is named after the river Lauter. Main sights In addition to the untouched nature and the numerous castles and ruins, there are other places of interest, such as the main and country stud farm of Marbach with its world-famous horse breeding, the baroque cathedral ''Münster Unserer Lieben Frau'' in Zwiefalten, the Wimsener cave that can be navigated by boat or the former military training area in Münsingen. Lauter () is a community in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg and a member of the administrative community (''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'') of Baunach. Geography The community lies in the Upper Franconia-West region on the Bach Lauter (brook), which runs into the river Baunach. Constituent communities The community is made up of the centres of Lauter with 601 inhabitants, Deusdorf with 277, Appendorf with 213, Leppelsdorf with 85, Krappenhof with 8 and Deusdorfer Mühle with 7. The Lauter is a right tributary of the Neckar in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It arises on the Albtrauf escarpment of the Swabian Alb. History The Lauter is formed by the confluence of the White Lauter, which rises east of Gutenberg and the Black Lauter, which arises near Schlattstall in Lenningen. Both streams are fed from multiple sources at each edge of the valley. The villages are part of the district of Esslingen. It flows through the municipalities of Lenningen, Owen, Dettingen unter Teck, Kirchheim unter Teck and Wendlingen am Neckar. Its principal tributary is the Lindach in Kirchheim. Lauter (Itz)
Lauter is a river of Bavaria, Germany. It is a right tributary of the Itz in Coburg. Geography Course of the River The Lauter emerges in the municipality of Lautertal in the district of Tremersdorf due to the confluence of the right Rottenbach and the left Weihergraben, which is somewhat more important in terms of both length and sub-catchment area. Generally, the river flows in a southerly direction through Neukirchen and Tiefenlauter to Oberlauter. Here it is reinforced by several Karstquellen, the spring ponds of the Lauter. In its further course, the Lauter runs through the towns of Unterlauter, Bertelsdorf and Neuses. In the centre of Coburg, it joins the Itz at the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche (Church of the Holy Cross). The town of Lauter () lies in the district of Erzgebirgskreis in the Free State of Saxony, Germany, between the two towns of Aue and Schwarzenberg. It lies in the Ore Mountains, 4 km southeast of Aue, and 4 km northwest of Schwarzenberg, has 4,927 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2006) in an area of 21.55 km² and belongs to the Town League of Silberberg (''Städtebund Silberberg''). Since 1 January 2013, it is part of the town Lauter-Bernsbach. Through the town runs the Silver Road, the B 101. Lauter has a station on the Zwickau–Schwarzenberg railway and is served by Regionalbahn trains, operated by ''Erzgebirgsbahn'' (a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn) between Zwickau and Johanngeorgenstadt.
