Lausanne railway station (french: Gare de Lausanne) Is the main intercity and regional railway station for the city of Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland. It is often known as Lausanne CFF to distinguish it from others in the town. Description Lausanne is a through station, which sits at the junction of the Simplon, Lausanne–Bern, and Lausanne–Geneva railway lines. Due to this, express passenger trains are available to a wide variety of destinations across the country. Passenger trains are primarily run by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS), with additional international trains run by companies from neighbouring France (TGV Lyria). There is also a network of local services from Lausanne, primarily as part of the RER Vaud, and platforms for line 2 of the Lausanne Métro. Romanshorn railway station (german: Bahnhof Romanshorn) is a railway station that serves the municipality of Romanshorn, in the canton of Thurgau, Switzerland. Opened in 1855, the station is owned and operated by SBB-CFF-FFS. It forms the junction between the Winterthur–Romanshorn railway, the Schaffhausen–Rorschach railway and the Romanshorn–Nesslau Neu St. Johann railway. The SBB-CFF-FFS and THURBO operate both long-distance and local traffic to and from the station. These include four St. Gallen S-Bahn lines and an InterCity train to Brig. Geneva Airport railway station (french: Gare de Genève-Aéroport) is a train station located underground next to the terminal building of Geneva International Airport (french: Aéroport international de Genève) (IATA code: GVA), in Grand-Saconnex, Geneva, Switzerland. InterCity (Switzerland)
The InterCity (abbreviated "IC") are mainline trains in Switzerland connecting the country's major agglomerations, the range of services (In Switzerland) of which is located between InterRegio (IR) (inter regional) and EuroCity (EC). Defined by the phrase "Quickly from one center to another." RegioExpress
RegioExpress (RE) is a fast regional train service in Switzerland, run by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS) or other railway companies (such as TILO, BLS, tpf, transN, THURBO or RhB). It is comparable to the Regional-Express in Germany, Austria and Luxembourg. Its speed is considerably faster than regional trains at the same level, as it does not stop at all stations served by the regional trains. Nonetheless, it is slightly slower than InterRegio trains. Swiss Federal Railways describes the trains as ones that serve "rapidly into the regions". Until the 2003 timetable overhaul (December 2002 to December 2003), the RegioExpress was limited in circulation. EuroCity, abbreviated as EC, is a cross-border train category within the European inter-city rail network. In contrast to trains allocated to the lower-level "IC" (InterCity) category, EC trains are international services that meet 20 criteria covering comfort, speed, food service, and cleanliness. Each EC train is operated by more than one European Union or Swiss rail company, under a multilateral co-operative arrangement, and all EC trains link important European cities with each other. The EuroCity label replaced the older Trans Europ Express (TEE) name for border-crossing trains in Europe. Whereas TEE services were first-class only, EuroCity trains convey first and second class coaches.
