Arturo Ardao
Arturo Ardao ( Minas, Lavalleja, 27 September 1912 – Montevideo, 22 September 2003) was a Uruguayan philosopher and historian of ideas. From 1968 to 1972 he was dean of the Faculty of Humanities. Before the Military Coup in 1973, he was forced into exile in Venezuela, where he continued his academic activity as professor at the Simón Bolívar University in Caracas . In addition, he participates as researcher at the Center for Latin American Studies Rómulo Gallegos. Flor de María Rodríguez (10 August 1913 – 24 October 2001) was a Uruguayan ballet dancer and choreographer who, together with her husband, Lauro Ayestarán, researched and revived Uruguay's folk dances. Biography Born in Las Piedras in the south of Uruguay, Rodríguez began her career as a ballet dancer. She was a founding member of Uruguayan National Ballet The National Ballet of Uruguay is a Uruguayan ballet company that was founded in 1935 in Montevideo. Carlos Real de Azúa (March 15, 1916 – July 16, 1977) was a Uruguayan lawyer, professor, essayist, sociologist and historian. Biography Real de Azúa Real was born into an old Uruguayan family, the first Real de Azúa having arrived at the Río de la Plata in 1794. He was a Catholic and, in his youth, an enthusiastic fascist and anti-liberal, an admirer of the Falange Española (a Spanish Fascist movement that was active in 1933-34), a fan of the right-wing journalist and politician Benito Nardone (who would later become president of Uruguay in 1960-61), and an outspoken critic of Batllism (the statist and redistributionist political philosophy of José Batlle y Ordóñez, president of Uruguay from 1903 to 1907 and 1911 to 1915).
