Laurier Québec (formerly called and still commonly referred to as Place Laurier) is one of List of largest shopping malls in Canada, Canada's largest shopping malls. It is located in Quebec City, Quebec (in what was formerly the city of Sainte-Foy, Quebec City, Sainte-Foy). Though Galeries de la Capitale is the biggest mall in the city in terms of area, Laurier Quebec remains the largest by number of tenants. It has approximately 300 stores and restaurants and is built on three levels with underground, multilevel, and outdoor parking. Major tenants include Hudson's Bay (retailer), La Baie d'Hudson, Best Buy, Toys "R" Us, Marshalls and Walmart Canada, Walmart. Wise Stores
Wise Stores was a department store chain located in Eastern Canada. It was founded in 1930 in Montreal by Alex Wise and constituted on March 31, 1949, as Wise Stores inc. By October 1988, the company had 28 stores and acquired 15 Continental outlets in eastern Quebec, New Brunswick and Ontario to bring to 43 the total number of Wise locations. In 1992, the company acquired the even longer running and competitor Peoples department stores from British retailer Marks & Spencer. Under the terms of the purchase, the Wise and Peoples chains could not completely merge until the outstanding balance owed to Marks & Spencer for the transaction had completely been paid in full. Consumers Distributing (known in Quebec as Distribution aux Consommateurs, and informally as Consumers) was a catalogue store in Canada and the United States that operated from 1957 to 1996. At its peak, the company operated 243 outlets in Canada and 217 in the United States, including stores in every province in Canada and in the states of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, California and Nevada.
