Andrés Fontecilla
Andrés Fontecilla (born 20 September 1967) is a Canadian politician from Quebec. He was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2018 provincial election, representing the electoral district of Laurier-Dorion as a member of Québec solidaire. He was co-spokesperson of the party, along with Françoise David, from 2013 to 2017. Biography Fontecilla was born in Chile but emigrated to Canada in 1981, having fled the authoritarian regime of Augusto Pinochet. He completed a degree in anthropology at the University of Montreal, and was elected president of the student association for his department. Political career Fontecilla was a member of the Quebec provincial party Union des forces progressistes (UFP) since its foundation and ran as the party's candidate in a 2004 by-election for the National Assembly of Quebec, but finished a distant third. Gerry Sklavounos, B.C.L., J.D., (born December 16, 1974) is a former Quebec politician. He was the Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Laurier-Dorion. He is currently an international public affairs and business development consultant at Hygaemon Strategy Corp.. Early life and career Gerry Sklavounos was born on December 16, 1974 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He moved into Laurier-Dorion when he was six years old. He went to Vanier College for CEGEP and graduated in 1994. He earned bachelor's degrees in civil and common law from the McGill University Faculty of Law in 1998. Christos Sirros ( el, Χρήστος Σύρρος; born 2 February 1948) is a politician in the Province of Quebec, Canada. He was a member of the National Assembly of Quebec (MNA) for the Laurier-Dorion electoral district (Canada), riding for two decades as a member of the Parti libéral du Québec, Liberal Party of Quebec. A graduate from McGill University, he first won the Laurier (provincial electoral district), Laurier riding in 1981 Quebec general election, 1981, defeating Parti Québécois (PQ) candidate Nadia Assimopoulos. The riding of Laurier-Dorion was created for the 1994 Quebec general election, 1994 election, in which Sirros defeated PQ candidate Benoît Henry by 6,930 votes. Elsie Lefebvre (born May 5, 1979 in Montreal, Quebec) is a Quebec politician. She was the Member of the National Assembly for the Laurier-Dorion riding from 2004 to 2007, and later served on Montreal City Council. She is trilingual, speaking French, Spanish and English. Ruba Ghazal (born December 6, 1977) is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2018 provincial election. She represents the electoral district of Mercier as a member of Québec solidaire. Early life and education Ghazal was born in Beirut, Lebanon to a family of Palestinian refugees. She lived in the United Arab Emirates until she was 10, when her family immigrated to Quebec. She studied at HEC Montréal.
