The Naracoorte Lucindale Council is a Local Government Areas of South Australia, local government area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the Limestone Coast region in the south-east of the state adjacent to the Victoria, Australia, Victorian border. It was created on 1 December 1998 following the amalgamation of the District Council of Naracoorte and the District Council of Lucindale. The districts economy is agricultural based, with cereal crops, sheep and beef predominantly farmed. It has a substantial tourist industry as well, with the Naracoorte Caves, Wonambi Fossil Centre and the seasonal Bool and Hacks Lagoons Wetlands being the main attractions. The Limestone Coast is a name used since the early twenty-first century for a South Australian government region located in the south east of South Australia which immediately adjoins the continental coastline and the Victorian border. The name is also used for a tourist region and a wine zone both located in the same part of South Australia. Electoral District Of MacKillop
MacKillop is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was named in 1991 after Sister Mary MacKillop who served the local area, and later became the first Australian to be canonised as a Roman Catholic saint. MacKillop is a 25,313 km² rural electorate in the south-east of the state, stretching south and west from the mouth of the Murray River to the Victorian State border, but excluding the far-southern point of the state, (which includes Mount Gambier). Hynam (formerly Hynam East) is a town and locality in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state's south-east within the Limestone Coast region on the border with the state of Victoria about south east of the state capital of Adelaide and about east of the municipal seat of Naracoorte. Hynam began as a government town proclaimed as Hynam East on 10 June 1909. It is located adjacent to the Hynam Railway Station and consisted of two parts which were respectively placed on the north and south sides of the railway line. Apsley, Victoria
Apsley is a small town in Victoria, Australia. It is on the Wimmera Highway, in the Shire of West Wimmera, 420 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, and 7 kilometres east of the South Australian border. The town is named after Apsley House in London. It was surveyed in 1851 and proclaimed in 1852, a Post Office opening on 1 January 1854 replacing that of Lake Wallace (open since 1 March 1849) nearer what is now Edenhope serving the grazing population. The population at the 2016 census was 277. The town is close to Lake Bringalbert and Newlands Lake, and the Saint Gregory's Vineyard, which specialises in port wine. __NOTOC__ Jessie was a town in the Australian state of South Australia whose site is located about south-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about east of the former municipal seat of Naracoorte at the border with the state of Victoria. It was in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Jessie on land with an estimated area of . Upon the proclamation of the ''District Councils Act 1887'' on 9 December 1887, it was located within the jurisdiction of the District Council of Narracoorte. The source of the town’s name is not reported in official sources. An article in ''The Narracoorte Herald'' of 22 February 1929 does offer two possible opinions to the sources of the town’s name.
