Laurie Daniels
Lawrence John Daniels (11 August 1916 – 16 September 1994) was a senior Australian public servant and policymaker. Life and career Laurie Daniels was born in Adelaide on 11 August 1916. He left school, for Sydney, at the age of 17 and won an Australian Public Service job at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Daniels moved to Canberra in 1946 with the ATO. In 1973, Daniels was appointed Secretary of the Department of Social Security, where he stayed until 1977. In 1977 he became Secretary of the Department of the Capital Territory, serving a five-year term. At the end of his Department of Capital Territory appointment, Daniels retired, having served 47 years in the public service. Daniels died of cancer on 16 September 1994. Awards and honours Daniels was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1972. In 1979 he was appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath. Pat Lanigan
Patrick Joseph "Pat" Lanigan (19251992) was a senior Australian public servant and administrator. Life and career Pat Lanigan was born on 20 February 1925 in North Fitzroy, Victoria, the son of a Victorian Railways worker. He was raised in Hampton, Victoria, attending the St Kilda Christian Brothers College and later the University of Melbourne. Between September 1943 and December 1946, during World War II, Lanigan served in the 2/5th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, in New Guinea. Lanigan joined the Australian Public Service in the Australian Taxation Office in 1950 when he was 25 years of age. In 1958, on 24 April, he married Margaret Cynthia Lanigan and they had four children: Sandra, Melissa, Peter and Amanda. There are three grandchildren: Ella, Finn and Luca. Tony Blunn
Anthony Stuart "Tony" Blunn (born 1936) is a retired Australian senior public servant. Life and career Tony Blunn was born in 1936. He joined the Australian Public Service at the age of 21, after four years with a firm of solicitors in Melbourne. In 1979 Blunn took a position in the Department of Finance, in an area linked with works, mainland Territories, defence and other areas. He moved to the Department of Business and Consumer Affairs in 1980, and was appointed to his first permanent Secretary role in 1981 as head of the Department of the Capital Territory. Blunn was appointed Secretary of the Attorney General's Department in 1998, replacing Stephen Skehill who resigned from the role. Blunn retired from the public service in December 1999. Louis John Wienholt (1918–1973) was a senior Australian public servant, including as Secretary of the Department of Social Security in 1973. Life and career Wienholt was born in 1918. He was a Queenslander who went into practice with his wife, Hilda Wienholt in Red Hill, Queensland. Hilda died suddenly on 14 September 1944; the couple had a child aged just 11 months at the time of Hilda's death. The doctors who performed Hilda's autopsy were unable to determine the cause of her death. Wienholt began his Australian Public Service career in 1950. He was promoted to Senior Medical Officer, grade 2, third division in 1957. Between 1968 and 1973 he was a Deputy Director-General at the Department of Health.
