Lauriane Doumbouya née Darboux is the current First Lady of Guinea since 5 September 2021. She is from France and is the wife of the interim President of Guinea, Mamady Doumbouya who took power in the 2021 Guinean coup d'état. She is an active duty member of the French National Gendarmerie. Personal life Darboux's family is from the south of France, and she worked as an active duty police officer in the French National Gendarmerie in the town of Valence, Drôme. Valence (, ; oc, Valença ) is a commune in southeastern France, the prefecture of the Drôme department and within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Djene Kaba Condé (1960 – 8 April 2023) served as the First Lady of Guinea, first lady of Guinea from 2010 until her husband Alpha Condé's overthrow during the 2021 Guinean coup d'état. She had three children. Education Djene Kaba Condé was born in Kankan in 1960. She studied at University Paris VII in France. National Gendarmerie
The National Gendarmerie (french: Gendarmerie nationale, ) is one of two national law enforcement forces of France, along with the National Police. The Gendarmerie is a branch of the French Armed Forces placed under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior, with additional duties from the Ministry of Armed Forces. 2021 Guinean Coup D'état
On 5 September 2021, President of Guinea Alpha Condé was captured by the country's armed forces in a coup d'état after gunfire in the capital, Conakry. Special forces commander Mamady Doumbouya released a broadcast on state television announcing the dissolution of the constitution and government. After several decades of authoritarian rule in Guinea, Condé was the country's first democratically elected leader. During his time in office, Guinea used its rich natural resources to improve the economy, but the bulk of the country's population has not felt its effects. In 2020, Condé changed the constitution by referendum to allow himself to secure a third term, a controversial change which spurred the 2019–2020 Guinean protests.
