It serves communities outside of Dublin: Cadwell, Dexter, Dudley, East Dublin, Lovett, Montrose, and Rentz, as well as the Laurens County portion of Allentown. Dublin, Georgia
Dublin is a city in Laurens County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 16,074. It is the county seat of Laurens County. History The original settlement was named after Dublin, Ireland. Dublin, according to a historical marker at the town's main Oconee River bridge, was one of the last encampments at which Confederate President Jefferson Davis and his family stayed before being captured by Union forces in May 1865. In the Dublin riot of July 1919 there were a series of violent racial riots between white and black members of the community. These were part of a larger series of racial violence during the 1919 Red Summer. On April 17, 1944, Martin Luther King Jr. gave his first public speech, "The Negro and the Constitution" at First African Baptist Church in Dublin. Allentown, Georgia
Allentown is a city in Bleckley, Laurens, Twiggs, and Wilkinson counties in the U.S. state of Georgia, primarily in Wilkinson County. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 169, down from 287 at the 2000 census. The Twiggs County portion is part of the Macon Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Laurens County portion is part of the Dublin Micropolitan Statistical Area. The remaining Wilkinson and Bleckley County portions are not part of any metropolitan or micropolitan area. Rentz is a city in Laurens County, Georgia, United States. The population was 295 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dublin Micropolitan Statistical Area. History The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Rentz as a town in 1905. The community was named after E. P. Rentz, a businessperson in the local lumber industry. A post office has been in operation at Rentz since 1905. Geography Rentz is located in southwestern Laurens County at (32.384064, -82.991633). Georgia State Route 117 (Proctor Street) runs through the center of town; it leads northeast to U.S. Route 441 and southwest the same distance to Cadwell. East Dublin is a city in Laurens County, Georgia, United States. The population was 2,441 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dublin Micropolitan Statistical Area. Geography East Dublin is located in north-central Laurens County at (32.550854, -82.868661), on the east bank of the Oconee River. It is bordered to the west, across the river, by the city of Dublin, the Laurens county seat. U.S. Routes 80 and 319 pass through East Dublin as Central Drive.
