''Doctors'' is a British medical soap opera which began broadcasting on BBC One on 26 March 2000. Set in the fictional West Midlands town of Letherbridge, the soap follows the lives of the staff and patients of the Mill Health Centre, a fictional NHS doctor's surgery, as well as its sister surgery located at a nearby university campus. Owen Brenman (born 17 December 1956, in London) is an English actor best known for his role as next-door neighbour Nick Swainey in the multi-award-winning BBC sitcom ''One Foot in the Grave'', which ran for ten years (1990–2000) and was written by David Renwick. He subsequently played Heston Carter in the BBC drama series ''Doctors'' from 2008 to 2018. Dr. Heston Carter is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera ''Doctors'', portrayed by Owen Brenman. He made his first appearance in 2008, and he continued to appear until 2018, when Brenman left ''Doctors'', with Heston being killed in a car accident.
