Lauren Baillie
Lauren Suzanne Baillie-Whyte (born 1982) formerly Lauren Baillie is a Scottish international lawn bowler. Biography Baillie won a bronze medal in the pairs at the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch with bowls partner Lesley Doig. She also won the Scottish National Bowls Championships pairs title on four occasions with her sister Leanne Baillie in 2009, 2011, 2012 & 2013 bowling for Cockenzie & Port Seton. In 2019, she changed her name to Baillie-Whyte. In 2020, she was selected for the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Australia. Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". World Bowls Championship
The World Bowls Championship is the premier world bowls competition between national bowls organisations. The premier indoor event is the World Indoor Bowls Championships listed separately and is organised by the World Bowls Tour. World Outdoor Championships First held in Australia in 1966, the World Outdoor Bowls Championships for men and women are held every four years. From 2008 the men's and women's events were held together. Qualifying national bowls organisations (usually countries) are represented by a team of five players, who play once as a single and a four, then again as a pair and a triple. Lesley Doig
Lesley Jayne Doig (born 13 August 1991) is a Scottish international lawn and indoor bowler. Doig won a bronze medal in the 2015 World Junior Championship before achieving a notable success by winning the silver medal in the singles at the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch losing out to Karen Murphy in the final. She then won the bronze medal in the pairs with Lauren Baillie. In 2018, Doig won the World Indoor Mixed Pairs title with Jamie Chestney. The Scottish National Bowls Championships is one of the oldest bowls competitions in the world. In 1892 Mr James Brown of Sanquhar BC and Dr Clark of the Partick BC formed the Scottish Bowls Association and organised the first rink (fours) championship the following year at the Queen's Park Club, Glasgow (it was the first national championships and was known as the McEwan Cup). 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship
The 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was to be the 14th edition of the World Championships to be held at the Broadbeach Bowls Club, Musgrave Hill Bowls Club and Club Helensvale on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
