Laura Strong
Laura May Strong (born October 31, 1979, in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador) is a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler. Career Juniors Strong made her first national debut, playing lead for her sister, Heather Strong, at the 1997 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, representing Newfoundland. It would be a disappointing event for the Strong sisters, only finishing round robin with a 5–7 record. In 1998 Strong would team up with Cindy Miller, playing lead stones. At the 1998 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, the team would finish round robin with a 2–10 record Strong would return to the 1999 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, this time taking over as skip for the team. The change would not provide the team success, finishing in last place with a 2–10 record. Caledonian Curling Club
The Caledonian Curling Club (also known as the Callie Curling Club) has been one of the most prominent curling rinks in Canada for many years. The club was established on October 14, 1915. Peg Goss (born January 31, 1960 in St. John's, Newfoundland) is a Canadian curler. She previously played lead for the team of Heather Strong. Goss has played in four Tournament of Hearts. World Curling Tour
The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Teams earned points in every event with the top 30 qualifying for the season ending " V.O. Cup", today known as the Players' Championship. Its first president and CEO was Lukowich. Erica Trickett
Erica Curtis (born June 12, 1991 as Erica Trickett) is a Canadian curler from Paradise, Newfoundland and Labrador. She currently plays third on Team Stacie Curtis. Career Curtis made three appearances at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in 2008, 2011 and 2012. In 2008, she finished 5–7 as lead for Julie Devereaux. In 2011, she again finished 5–7 this time as lead for Erin Porter. Her final trip in 2012, she skipped the Newfoundland and Labrador team to a 3–9 record. She also competed in two U Sports/Curling Canada University Curling Championships, finishing 4–3 in 2011 and 2–5 in 2012. Out of juniors, she joined the Heather Strong rink at second. They played in the 2012 Masters Tier 2 Grand Slam of Curling event where they qualified for the playoffs before losing to Chelsea Carey in the quarterfinals. 2012 Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's national curling championship, was held from Saturday, February 18 to Sunday, February 26 at the ENMAX Centrium in Red Deer, Alberta. This Tournament of Hearts marked the second time that Red Deer has hosted the Scotties; the first time that the Scotties was hosted in Red Deer was in 2004. The winning team, Heather Nedohin of Alberta, went on to represent Canada at the 2012 Ford World Women's Curling Championship in Lethbridge, Alberta. Nedohin won the final after she defeated British Columbia's Kelly Scott with a score of 7–6. Shelley Hardy (born May 19, 1982 in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador as Shelley Nichols) is a Canadian curler originally from St. John's. She currently plays third on Team Lauren Mann. Hardy played third for Jennifer Guzzwell at the 2002 and 2003 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The team lost the 2002 final to Suzanne Gaudet of Prince Edward Island. In 2003, they lost a tie breaker to make the playoffs. In 2005, Hardy played third for her brother, 2006 Olympic gold medallist Mark Nichols at that year's Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in which the team won. Hardy joined up with Heather Strong for the 2005-06 season, and won provincial championships as her third in 2006 and 2007. She left the team to skip her own in 2007.
