Laura Quevedo
Laura Quevedo Cañizares (born 15 April 1996) is a Spanish basketball player for CB Estudiantes and the Spanish national team, taking part in the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2021 Eurobasket. Club career Quevedo played as a child in local club CB Coslada from age 7 to 12, moving then to Real Canoe for five years. At 17, she signed for Rivas Ecópolis of the Spanish first tier league, alternating the youth and the senior team. At age 18, she moved to Florida, USA to play for college team Miami Hurricanes of the NCAA, where she averaged 22 MMP and 6 PPP, but after 15 games she decided to go back to Spain before the end of the season. Back in Spain, she played with Pajariel Bembibre for the remainer of the 2014-2015 season. After one season with Universitario de Ferrol, she signed in 2016 with the top team in the league, Perfumerías Avenida, winning the double league-cup in 2017. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. The 2023 European Women Basketball Championship, commonly called EuroBasket Women 2023, was the 39th edition of the continental tournament in women's basketball, sanctioned by the FIBA Europe. It was co-hosted by Slovenia and Israel between 15 and 25 June 2023. The games were played in Tel Aviv and Ljubljana. Serbia was the defending champions. The Copa de la Reina de Baloncesto 2017 was the 55th edition of the Spanish Queen's Basketball Cup. It is managed by the Spanish Basketball Federation – FEB and was held between February 10 and 12, 2017. Qualification Prior to the start of the season, the rules of the Spanish Basketball Federation established that the three first teams classified at the end of the first leg of the 2016–17 Liga Femenina, together with the club representing the host province would play the Competition. If the host finished between the three first teams, the fourth classified would also participate. However, on 15 November 2016, the Spanish Basketball Federation expanded the competition to the first six qualified teams at the half of the season, removing the spot for a host team. The 2016–17 Liga Femenina de Baloncesto is the 54th edition of the Spanish premier women's basketball championship. Regular season will start on 28 September 2016 and will finish on 1 April 2017. Playoffs will be played between 5 April and 3 May 2017. Competition format All the 14 teams play the regular season, consisted in a home and away round-robin. The NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in the United States, currently featuring 68 Women's sports, women's college basketball teams from the NCAA Division I, Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), to determine the national championship. Baloncesto Rivas CDE, commonly known as Rivas Ecópolis due to sponsorship reasons, is a Spanish professional women's basketball team based in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Community of Madrid. History Baloncesto Rivas was founded in 1988 as CD Covíbar but the women's basketball team didn't play until 1993. Rivas first played in the top category in 2004, but it couldn't avoid relegation. However the team was back for the 2007 season and rose into the championship's top places, attaining 3rd (2009, 2010) and 4th (2011) spots. These results earned Rivas qualification for the Euroleague, where it reached the Round of 16 in 2010 and 2011. In 2011 it won the Copa de la Reina, its first national title. Real Canoe Natación Club is the basketball team of this club based in Madrid, Spain. The section was founded in 1940. The men's team played in the top division of Spanish basketball from 1957 to 1965, but nowadays plays in LEB Oro. The women's team was Liga Femenina champion three times, but now plays in Liga Femenina 2. The 2021 European Women Basketball Championship, commonly called EuroBasket Women 2021, was the 38th edition of the continental tournament in women's basketball, sanctioned by the FIBA Europe.
