Laura Petrutytė
Laura Petrutytė (born 10 August 1976) is a Lithuanian former competitive swimmer. Career Petrutytė competed at the 1994 World Aquatics Championships and set a personal best time of 26.55 in the 50 m freestyle. She set national records in the 50 m freestyle in 1994 (which stood until 2011) and the 1500 m freestyle. At the 1996 Summer Olympic Games Petrutytė finished 16th in the women's 50 metre freestyle with a new national record time of 26.13 and 41st in the women's 200 metre freestyle. Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile.
