Laura Garza
Laura Garza is an American socialist politician, a garment worker and a member of UNITE HERE Local 187. Garza ran twice for public office in Florida; 1993 for Mayor of Miami, and 1994 for United States House of Representatives in Florida's 21st congressional district. Both efforts were unsuccessful. Garza ran as the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) candidate for Vice President in 1996. She and running mate James Harris received 8,463 votes. Garza has been an unsuccessful candidate for Boston City Council three times; 2003 and 2005 as an at-large candidate, and 2009 as a candidate for the District 1 seat. Margaret Trowe (born 1948) is an American politician and women's rights activist. She was the 2000 United States vice presidential candidate for the Socialist Workers Party; she also appeared as their VP candidate in 2004 in those states where official candidate Arrin Hawkins was excluded from the ballot for being constitutionally ineligible to serve as vice president. Michael Everett Capuano ( ; born January 9, 1952) is an American politician and attorney who served as a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts from 1999 to 2019. A Democrat, his district included the northern three-fourths of Boston, as well as parts of Cambridge, his hometown of Somerville, and other communities immediately north and south of Boston.
