Las Villuercas
Las Villuercas is a ''comarca'' located in the province of Cáceres, western Spain. It belongs to the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. Despite the traditional strong identity of its inhabitants, this historical region has not been able to achieve the necessary legal recognition for its administrative development. The comarca has a total of about 9,000 inhabitants. Its geography is typical of the Meseta Central. The Sierra de Villuercas, also known as ''Sierra de Guadalupe'' is part of this comarca. The comarca is named after La Villuerca, the highest peak in the range and also the highest point of the greater Montes de Toledo system, an ancient name that has been documented since 1353. ''comarca'') is either a traditional territorial division without any formal basis, or a group of municipalities, legally defined by an autonomous community for the purpose of providing common local government services. In English, a comarca is equivalent to a district, county, area or zone. Sierra de Villuercas or Sierra de las Villuercas, also known as Sierra de Guadalupe after nearby Guadalupe town, is a mountain range in the greater Montes de Toledo range, Spain. It is located in province of Cáceres, autonomous community of Extremadura. Rivers Almonte and Ibor, tributaries of the Tagus, and the Ruecas and Guadalupe River, tributaries of the Guadiana, have their sources in this range. Description The Sierra de Villuercas stretches for about 60 km in a roughly NNW/SSE direction in the southeast of Cáceres Province. From its northern end a lower ridge stretches in an arch further westwards from Deleitosa. Southwards there is a straight low ridge aligned in a N/S direction connecting with the Sierra de los Golondrinos prolongation further south straddling river Guadiana. Logrosán
Logrosán () is a municipality within the province of Cáceres in Extremadura, Spain. It is the capital of the administrative and commercial sub-area of Don Benito-Villanueva. Logrosán was an important and growing community in the first half of the 20th century. The area was once home to a population of over 8,000 due to its large role in the Mining industry during the 19th and 20th centuries. It is currently administered by the City Council of Logrosán. Geography Geographically, Logrosán is located in the south of the province of Caceres (Extremadura), at the base of Las Villuercas in the Montes de Toledo mountain range.
