Las Ánimas Complex
Las Ánimas complex is an archaeological culture of northern Chile considered to be the immediate precursor to the Diaguita culture. The culture developed in the Chilean region of Norte Chico, Chile, Norte Chico between 800 and 1000 common era, CE. Prior to Las Ánimas complex, an archaeological culture known as El Molle culture, El Molle complex existed in Norte Chico from 300 to 700 common era, CE. Pottery recovered from Las Ánimas complex has linear designs painted with white, red or black. The black colour derives from hematite, specular hematite. Las Animas, Chile
Las Ánimas, is an industrial and residential neighborhood located on the northern side of Valdivia Its main access points are: From the north, through route T-202 and the Puente Santa Elvira and through the south, Puente Calle-Calle. It is also connected to Teja Island, by the Cau-Cau bridge. History The beginnings of the area date to the foundation of Valdivia in 1552, when the Spanish conquistador Pedro de Valdivia crossed from present-day Las Animas to Valdivia During the re-founding of the city by the Spaniards, around 1645, a fortification was erected on the "Los Castaños" area as way of defending themselves from the attack of the indigenous population, however this emplacement was destroyed on December 25 of that year. The toponym of the area (Ánima, derived from the latin word ''alma)'' is said to be a reference to the "souls" of the Spanish soldiers that died during the destruction of the fortification. Las Ánimas is a volcano of the Central Ranges of the Colombian Andes at the border of the departments of Cauca and Nariño. The volcano is high. Las Animas County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,555. The county seat is Trinidad. Las Animas, Colorado
Las Animas is the Statutory City that is the county seat, the most populous community, and the only incorporated municipality in Bent County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 2,410 at the 2010 United States Census. Las Animas is located on the Arkansas River, just west of its confluence with the Purgatoire River (or "Purgatory River"), in southeast Colorado east of Pueblo, near the historic Bent's Fort. Etymology According to legend, the town and the Purgatoire River were named after a group of conquistadors, probably part of Coronado's expedition, who died without the last rites sacrament of a priest. According to Catholic belief, their souls would go to Purgatory as a result. Las Animas National Forest was established by the U.S. Forest Service in Colorado and New Mexico on March 1, 1907 with , only 420 of which were in New Mexico. Rancho Las Animas
Rancho Las Ánimas (also called Las Ánimas o La Poza de Carnedero or La Brea) was a Spanish land concession in present-day Santa Clara County given in 1803 by Viceroy Félix Berenguer de Marquina to José Mariano Castro. The rancho was regranted in 1835 to Castro's widow Josefa Romero de Castro by Mexican Governor José Figueroa. The present-day city of Gilroy is within the grant. History In 1803, Feliz Beranceur, then Viceroy and Governor of New Spain, made a conditional grant of the Las Ánimas Ranch to José Mariano Castro (1765–1828). Cerro de las Ánimas ("Hill of the Souls", formerly known as ''Mirador Nacional'') is a peak and the second highest point of Uruguay, with an altitude of 501 metres (1,643.7 ft). Sierra de las Ánimas is a hill range which starts in Lavalleja Department of Uruguay and extends south into Maldonado Department.
