Larysa Kondracki
Larysa Kondracki is a Canadian producer, director and screenwriter. Her debut feature film, ''The Whistleblower'', was released in 2011 and received nominations for six Genies at the 32nd Genie Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. She has received international accolades for reporting true stories of victims of trafficking in the former Yugoslavia. Life Kondracki was originally from Toronto; she studied English literature and theatre at McGill University, graduating in 1999. She later completed a second BA in film directing at Columbia University, graduating in 2001. She also studied at the MFA in film program at Columbia University School of the Arts until 2006. Based in Los Angeles, Kondracki has written projects for Focus Features, HBO Films, Participant Media, and Showtime Entertainment, among others. Seattle International Film Festival
The Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), held annually in Seattle, Washington since 1976, is among the top film festivals in North America. Audiences have grown steadily; the 2006 festival had 160,000 attendees. The SIFF runs for more than three weeks (24 days), in May/June, and features a diverse assortment of predominantly independent and foreign films, and a strong contingent of documentaries. Great Amherst Mystery
The Great Amherst Mystery was a notorious case of reported poltergeist activity in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada between 1878 and 1879. It was the subject of an investigation by Walter Hubbell, an actor with an interest in psychic phenomena, who kept what he claimed was a diary of events in the house, later expanded into a popular book. The case was dismissed as a hoax by skeptical investigators.
