Larry Stewart (basketball)
Larry Stewart (born September 21, 1968) is an American former professional basketball player, formerly of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is currently an assistant coach at Maryland Eastern Shore. Stewart attended Coppin State University where he led his team to the 1990 NCAA Tournament, the first appearance in school history. Coppin State was a 15 seed and lost to Derrick Coleman's Syracuse squad 70-48 in the first round. After college, he signed as an un drafted free agent with the Washington Bullets in 1991. He averaged 10.4 points, and 5.9 rebounds in his rookie season (1991–92), and became the first undrafted player in NBA history to make an All-NBA Rookie Team (2nd). His last NBA season was in 1996–97 with the Seattle SuperSonics, where he would make his only appearance in the playoffs. He also played in Greece for Panellinios BC. Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) is a collegiate athletic conference whose full members are historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the Southeastern and the Mid-Atlantic United States. It participates in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division I, and in football, in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Currently, the MEAC has automatic qualifying bids for NCAA postseason play in baseball (since 1994), men's basketball (since 1981), women's basketball (since 1982), softball (since 1995), men's and women's tennis (since 1998), and volleyball (since 1994). Derrick Coleman
Derrick Demetrius Coleman (born June 21, 1967) is an American former professional basketball player. Coleman was born in Mobile, Alabama, but grew up and attended high school in Detroit, Michigan, Detroit, and attended college at Syracuse University. He was selected first overall in the 1990 NBA draft by the New Jersey Nets. Throughout his career, the left-handed Coleman was an effective low post scorer, averaging 16.5 points and 9.3 rebounds. He enjoyed his best years as a member of the New Jersey Nets, where he averaged 19.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. 1990 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament
The 1990 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of NCAA Division I men's college basketball. It began on March 15, 1990, and ended with the championship game on April 2 in Denver, Colorado. A total of 63 games were played. UNLV, coached by Jerry Tarkanian, won the national title with a 103–73 victory in the final game over Duke, coached by Mike Krzyzewski. In doing so, UNLV set the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament record for largest margin of victory in a championship game. Coppin State University (Coppin) is a public historically black university in Baltimore, Maryland. It is part of the University System of Maryland and a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. In terms of demographics, the Coppin State student population is 76% female and 83% Black or African American.
