Larry Gene Taylor
Larry Gene Taylor (August 7, 1953 – July 6, 2005) was an American politician and businessman who served as a member of both chambers of the Missouri General Assembly. Early life and education Taylor was born in Carthage, Missouri, the son of Dorothy Taylor and the late Missouri congressman, Gene Taylor. He was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School and went on to Missouri Southern State University. Career Taylor was the youngest delegate at the 1972 Republican National Convention. He owned an automobile dealership, Gene Taylor Ford and Sales, and was an automobile and boat wholesaler. He was first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2002 and elected to the Missouri Senate in 2004. Personal life He was married to Gay Taylor, and had three children, Charles, Chelsea, and Jaime. Gene Taylor (Missouri Politician)
Gene Taylor (February 10, 1928 – October 27, 1998) was a Republican U.S. representative from Missouri. He was born near Sarcoxie, Missouri, where Taylor attended local public schools. He attended Southwest Missouri State College, Springfield from 1945 to 1947 then served in the One Hundred and Eighth Cavalry, Missouri National Guard from 1948 to 1949. From 1954 to 1960, he served as mayor of Sarcoxie, Missouri while starting his automobile dealership which he ran until 1973. He served as a delegate to Republican National Conventions between 1960 and 1968 and as a delegate to Missouri State Republican conventions in 1960, 1964, 1968, and 1972. He was also a Republican national committeeman from 1966 to 1972. Shell Knob, Missouri
Shell Knob is a census-designated place (CDP) located within White River Township, Barry County, Missouri. The population was 1,254 at the 2020 census. The Stone County portion of Shell Knob is part of the Branson, Missouri Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Located in the Ozark Mountains, Shell Knob was established in 1835 on the banks of the White River when Henry and Elizabeth Yoachum Schell built a trading post. The "c" was left off the name when the post office was established in 1872. The Schells left in 1846 and went on to establish the community of Jacket, Missouri. In 1959, Table Rock Dam was completed and Table Rock Lake filled. Today Shell Knob is an active lake resort area with a population of more than 1,200. Missouri Southern State University (Missouri Southern, MSSU, or MoSo) is a public university in Joplin, Missouri. It was established in 1937 as Joplin Junior College. The university enrolled 4,346 students in Fall 2021. History Missouri Southern State University was founded in 1937 as Joplin Junior College. At its conception, Joplin Junior College had 114 students and only 9 faculty members. In 1964, residents of Jasper County, Missouri approved a $2.5 million bond issue to begin construction on a new campus, where the university is currently located.
