Larry Dixon (drag Racer)
Larry Dixon Jr. (born October 23, 1966) is an American professional drag racer in the NHRA. Larry is the son of Larry Dixon Sr., who won Top Fuel Eliminator at the 1970 NHRA Winternationals. 1980s and 1990s Dixon's NHRA career began when he was a worker for a team owned by Larry Minor that had Gary Beck as driver. Dixon began his long friendship with Don "The Snake" Prudhomme in 1988 while working on Prudhomme's Funny Car. In 1994, he earned his Top Fuel license with 4.76-second pass at Gatornationals at Gainesville, Florida. In 1995, his rookie season, he earned Rookie of the Year honors. That season became third rookie to win $100,000 Budweiser Shootout, the first Top Fuel rookie to win at Indianapolis since Gary Beck in 1972 and set NHRA's elapsed time record at Englishtown. Tony Schumacher (drag Racer)
Tony Schumacher (born December 25, 1969), is an American drag racer who is an eight-time NHRA Champion. He is the son of NHRA legend Don Schumacher, but despite their similar name the family is not related to the Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher. Early and personal life Schumacher attended Maine South High School in Park Ridge, IL and later St. John's Military Academy in Delafield Wisconsin. He also went to Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, IL. Schumacher is married and has 3 children. Racing career As of April 2017, Schumacher is competing in the NHRA Top Fuel class, of which he is an eight-time champion (breaking a record set by Joe Amato), winning six years consecutively (2004–2009). Avon is a town in Washington Township, Hendricks County, Indiana, United States. The population was 21,474 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) is the second-largest drag racing sanctioning body after the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). The Carrier Era 1971-1987 The IHRA was formed in November 1970 by businessman Larry Carrier. Ed McCulloch, nicknamed "The Ace", is an American dragster and funny car driver. History McCulloch grew up in Oregon., motorsport.com (retrieved November 11, 2022) McCulloch started racing in a Chevrolet-powered Top Fuel dragster, which he built with his brother, Dan, in 1964. The car ran well, but in only his second race, at Woodburn Dragstrip, McCulloch failed to lift off the throttle and hit the mount for the timing light; the car flipped, and McCulloch refused to drive again. It did not last. He partnered with Jim Albrich in building another car, and they hired a driver, who they could not afford to pay, so McCulloch took the seat. Kenny Bernstein
Kenneth Dale Bernstein (born September 6, 1944) is an American drag racer and former NASCAR and IndyCar team owner. He is nicknamed the "Bud King" for his success in the Budweiser King funny car and dragster. He has also been nicknamed the "King of Speed," because he was the first driver to break 300 miles per hour in the standing-start quarter mile. Bernstein owned King Racing, which he drove for in the NHRA and fielded various cars in other racing series such as IndyCar and NASCAR. Bernstein retired from full-time competition in 2002 and moved his son Brandon into the Bud King Top Fuel dragster, but returned to finish the season in place of his son after Brandon suffered a severe injury. The NASCAR Cup Series is the top racing series of the NASCAR, National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).
