James Larmer
James Larmer (b. 1808 or 1809 – d. 1886) was a government surveyor in the colony of New South Wales. Between 1830 and 1859, he surveyed land, roads and settlements in New South Wales. He was an Assistant Surveyor to the Surveyor-General, Sir Thomas Mitchell, from 1835 to 1855. In 1835, he was second in command of Mitchell’s second expedition. He is also noteworthy for his recording of Aboriginal words from various parts of New South Wales. Early life Larmer was born in Reigate, Surrey, England and arrived in Sydney in October 1829 to take up his appointment as a survey draftsman. Jeff Larmer
Jeffrey Larmer (born November 10, 1962) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 158 games in the National Hockey League. He played with the Colorado Rockies, New Jersey Devils and the Chicago Black Hawks. Larmer was born in Peterborough, Ontario. As a youth, he played in the 1975 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Peterborough. Larmer holds the record for most points in a Memorial Cup, having scored 16 points in the 1982 Memorial Cup. Steven Donald Larmer (born June 16, 1961) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward. He is the brother of Jeff Larmer. Career As a youth, Larmer played in the 1974 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Peterborough, Ontario. Steve Larmer played in the NHL for the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers and was known as one of the NHL's best power forwards of that era. He won the 1983 Calder Memorial Trophy as well as being named to the NHL All-Rookie Team that year. From 1982 to 1993, Larmer played in 884 consecutive games for the Blackhawks, an NHL record for most consecutive games played with the same team, and the third longest consecutive-games streak in league history at that time. He had a chance at breaking Doug Jarvis' record for consecutive games played but a contract dispute at the beginning of the 1993–94 officially ended his streak. The Larmer Tree Gardens near Tollard Royal in south Wiltshire, England, were created by landowner Augustus Pitt Rivers in 1880 as pleasure grounds for "public enlightenment and entertainment". They were the first private gardens opened for public enjoyment in the United Kingdom, and were free to enter. The Grade II* listed gardens are within the Rushmore Estate in Cranborne Chase, an ancient royal hunting ground and now an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Description The gardens lie in the far south of Wiltshire, on the county border with Dorset, south of Tollard Royal village and about southwest of Rushmore House. They cover around . The main entrance is on the south side, where there is a two-storey lodge or caretaker's cottage, built in 1881. Larmer Tree Festival
Larmer Tree Festival is a three-day music, comedy and arts festival held annually at the Larmer Tree Gardens near Tollard Royal on the Wiltshire-Dorset border in England. Described as "one of the most family-friendly festivals around", it takes place in the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Past editions have included performances from Paloma Faith, Jake Bugg, First Aid Kit, Tom Odell, KT Tunstall, Tom Jones, Kae Tempest, Jools Holland and Gomez. The 2020 festival was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the event was not held in 2021 or 2022.
