Laris Phylactou
Lakis Fylaktou (born 28 January 1964) is a Cypriot swimmer. He competed in two events at the 1980 Summer Olympics at the age of 16. At the 1980 Summer Olympics, Fylaktou competed in the Men's 100 m freestyle and the Men's 100 m backstroke events. In the Men's 100 m freestyle event, Fylaktou was entered into heat two. He finished 7th of 8 swimmers beating only Angola's Jorge Lima with a time of 57.41 seconds. In the Men's 100 m backstroke, Fylaktou finished 7th out of 7 swimmers with a time of 1:08.92 seconds. Fylaktou didn't advance too the later stages of each of his events. Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Swimming each stroke requires a set of specific techniques; in competition, there are distinct regulations concerning the acceptable form for each individual stroke. Swimming At The 1980 Summer Olympics
Swimming as usual was one of the three aquatics disciplines at the 1980 Summer Olympics—the other two being Water Polo and Diving. It was held in the ''Swimming Pool'' of the ''Olimpiysky Sports Complex'' between July 20 and July 27. There was a total of 333 participants from 41 countries competing. Because the number of participants was reduced by the boycott, FINA broke format by doing away with the semifinals. Instead, the top 8 finishers from the heats qualified directly for the final, or final A as it was called. In events up to 400m, those that finished 9th to 16th in the heats would swim in Final B for the 9th place after the swimmers from Final A swam. The 1980 Summer Olympics (russian: Летние Олимпийские игры 1980, Letniye Olimpiyskiye igry 1980), officially known as the Games of the XXII Olympiad (russian: Игры XXII Олимпиады, Igry XXII Olimpiady) and commonly known as Moscow 1980 (russian: link=no, Москва 1980), were an international multi-sport event held from 19 July to 3 August 1980 in Moscow, Soviet Union, in present-day Russia. Jorge Manuel Roxo Martins de Lima (born 29 January 1981) is a Portuguese sailor who specialized in Soozie ( 49er). He represented Portugal, along with his partner Francisco Andrade, at the 2008, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. He has trained for Cascais Naval Club ( pt, Clube Naval de Cascais) throughout most of his sporting career under his personal coach Pedro Pinto. As of September 2014, Lima is ranked twenty-fourth in the world for the men's skiff class by the International Sailing Federation, following his successes at the European Championships, and 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships in Santander, Spain.
