Larinus Cynarae
''Larinus'' is a genus of true weevils, comprising about 180 species, mostly in the Palaearctic region.Hoffman, A. 1954. Faune de France. 59, Coléoptères Curculionidés. Part 2. P. Lechavalier, Paris. Turkey appears to have a significant diversity of the group, with more than 50 species recorded in the Eastern part of the country. Several of these beetles are used as agents of biological pest control against noxious weeds. They feed on flower heads, destroying the developing seeds of the weeds. Species These species belong to the genus ''Larinus'': * '' Larinus araxicola'' Gultekin, 2006 * '' Larinus bombycinus'' Lucas, H., 1847 * '' Larinus brevis'' * '' Larinus bronni'' Heyden, C. von & Heyden, L. von., 1866 * '' Larinus byrrhinus'' (Sparrman, A., 1785) * ''Larinus cardopatii'' Lucas, H., 1847 * '' Larinus carlinae'' Olivier, 1807 * '' Larinus carthami'' Olivier, 1807 * '' Larinus centaurea'' Oliver, 1807 * '' Larinus centaurii'' Olivier, 1807 * '' Larinus cuniculus'' Ol ...

Larinus Sturnus
''Larinus sturnus'' is a species of cylindrical weevils belonging to the family Curculionidae, subfamily Lixinae. Description ''Larinus sturnus'' can reach a body length of about . These rather small weevils have a black, oval shaped, punctuated body, densely covered with yellow dust, with several yellowish patches of gray setae, that appear yellowish by a yellowish secretion and adhering pollen. The pronotum is one and a half times wider than long. Its oval shaped elytra are wider than the pronotum. In front of the scutellum, there is a slight but noticeable indentation. They show the characteristic rostrum of the weevil family. It is thick, long and curved, shorter in males, relatively longer in females. Its antennae are short with conspicuous clubs. This species is rather similar and often confused with other representatives of its genus, such as ''Larinus planus'', ''Larinus jaceae'' and '' Larinus turbinatus''. However, these beetles are usually larger than the similar sp ...

Larinus Filiformis
''Larinus filiformis'' is a species of true weevil found in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Bulgaria. The weevil's main host plant in its native range is yellow starthistle '' Centaurea solstitialis''. For this reason, there is interest in determining whether ''L. filiformis'' would be a good candidate for classical biological control of the noxious weed. In the field, this weevil has only been reported on yellow starthistle. Life history ''L. filiformis'' is univoltine in Turkey. Females lay eggs on the flowerheads, and larvae undergo development inside the flower heads. Adults emerge in spring when the temperature reaches about . It is most common at an elevation of in Turkey. Parasitism ''L. filiformis'' is parasitized by: '' Bracon urinator'' (F.), '' Bracon tshitsherini'' Kok. (Braconidae), '' Exeristes roborator'' Fab. (Ichneumonidae), ''Aprostocetus'' sp. (Eulophidae), and unidentified species of Eurytomidae The Eurytomidae are a family within the superfamily C ...
