Larena, officially the Municipality of Larena ( ceb, Lungsod sa Larena; tl, Bayan ng Larena), is a 5th class municipality in the province of Siquijor, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 14,454 people. It was the former capital of the province of Siquijor. Larena Port is the main gateway to Siquijor island as it is the largest port. It can accommodate ships up to 1,000 tons and is serviced by five shipping companies, providing passenger and cargo service to Santander and Cebu City in Cebu; Tagbilaran in Bohol; Dumaguete in Negros Oriental, and Plaridel in Misamis Occidental. Demetrio Larena was a political hero and former governor of Negros Oriental (East Negros), a province on Negros Island in the Philippines. He was the vice-president of the Republic of Negros and eventually the governor of Negros Oriental from 1901 until 1906. Larena was instrumental in the establishment of Silliman University in Dumaguete. Jorge Larena-Avellaneda Roig (born 29 September 1981), known as Larena, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played usually as an attacking midfielder. He played 193 La Liga matches over seven seasons (15 goals), in representation of three teams, mainly Las Palmas for which he also appeared in Segunda División. Bishop Carlos Marcio Camus Larenas (14 January 1927 – 16 March 2014) emeritus (retired) bishop of the Linares, Chile and human rights advocate.
