Larchmont Charter School is a public charter school located in Los Angeles, California. Considered popular amongst parents in the entertainment industry and highly diverse, Larchmont is known for its high academic ranking and constructivist approach to learning, with one of the city's most selective high schools. History Larchmont Charter School opened exclusively as an elementary school of 120 students in September 2005. Founded by a core group of families frustrated with public education in Los Angeles, Larchmont's goal was to provide "an exceptional public education" via the charter school model. 2022 Los Angeles Mayoral Election
The 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election was held on November 8, 2022, to elect the mayor of Los Angeles, California. A top-two primary was held on June 7, 2022. Candidates could win the election outright by receiving more than 50% of the vote, but no candidate received a majority. More than forty candidates formed committees to run. Twenty-seven filed their declaration of intention to collect signatures for the ballot, and of these twelve qualified. Incumbent Mayor Eric Garcetti was ineligible to seek a third term due to term limits but was serving an extended second term due to a law moving election dates. In July 2021, Garcetti was nominated to become United States Ambassador to India. If Garcetti left office before his mayoral term ended, the Los Angeles City Council would have appointed an interim replacement to finish the remainder of that term. Hollywood High School is a four-year public secondary school in the Los Angeles Unified School District, located at the intersection of North Highland Avenue and West Sunset Boulevard in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California. Giuseppe "Joe" Buscaino (born ) is an American politician and former police officer, who served as a member of the Los Angeles City Council for the 15th district from 2012 to 2022. A member of the Democratic Party, Buscaino served as President pro tempore of the council from 2020 to 2021. Buscaino was an early entrant into the 2022 Los Angeles mayoral election, and qualified for the ballot after nearly a year of campaigning. Lafayette Recreation Center, also known as Lafayette Park, is a public park in the Westlake district of Los Angeles, California, United States. History In 1899, Clara R. Shatto donated of land to the City of Los Angeles. The land consisted of tar seeps and oil wells and Shatto requested that it be developed into a park. Shatto was the wife of George Shatto, the then-owner of Santa Catalina Island. Canary Island palm trees and jacaranda were planted in the area of what became known as Sunset Park. Local groups requested that the name be changed to commemorate Marquis de Lafayette, a military officer of the American Revolutionary War. The name was officially changed in 1918.
