Lara Grangeon
Lara Grangeon (born 21 September 1991) is a French swimmer from the territory of New Caledonia who competes in the individual medley and butterfly events. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she finished 18th overall in the heats in the 400 metre individual medley and failed to reach the final. Due to the New Caledonia's status as an overseas territory of France, Grangeon competes for New Caledonia in regional (Pacific) competitions and for France in continental and global competitions. At the 2011 Pacific Games in Nouméa, New Caledonia, Grangeon entered all twenty women's events (including one open water event) and won a medal in all of them, including sixteen golds. At the 2007 and 2011 Games, Grangeon swam on several relay teams together with Diane Bui Duyet, who also represents both France and New Caledonia. 2017 European Short Course Swimming Championships
The 2017 European Short Course Swimming Championships took place in Copenhagen, Denmark from 13 to 17 December 2017. The meet was held in the Royal Arena, which was finished in early 2017. It was the first major sports event in this arena, which has a capacity of circa 12,500. It was the second time that Denmark hosted this event, after the 2013 edition in Herning. Bidding process Poland and Italy were also bidding to host the championships. The decision to select Copenhagen was announced by LEN President Paolo Barelli on 9 October 2015. Netanya (also known as Natanya, he, נְתַנְיָה) is a city in the Northern Central District of Israel, and is the capital of the surrounding Sharon plain. Diane Bui Duyet, sometimes spelled "Bui-Duyet", (born 22 December 1979 in Nouméa, New Caledonia) is a French New Caledonian swimmer. Due to the New Caledonia's status as an overseas territory of France, Bui Duyet competes for New Caledonia in regional (Pacific) competitions and for France in continental and above competitions (similar to Malia Metella's situation with French Guiana). At the 2007 and 2011 Pacific Games, Bui Duyet swam on several relay teams together with Lara Grangeon, who also represents both France and New Caledonia. Bui Duyet was the world record holder in the women's short course (25 meter pool) 100 meter butterfly with a time of 55.05 seconds. She set the record in the semi-finals of the 2009 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. She went on to get a silver medal in the finals with a time of 55.93 seconds. Swimming at the 2015 Pacific Games was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea on 6–12 July 2015. The women's events were dominated by New Caledonia's Lara Grangeon who won eight individual gold medals and was a team member in four gold medal-winning relays. Papua New Guinea's Ryan Pini won six individual gold medals in the men's events and was a team member in the gold medal-winning mixed 4×50 metre medley relay. Swimming at the 2011 Pacific Games in Nouméa was dominated by the host team New Caledonia who won thirty-three of the forty events contested. The events in the pool – nineteen each for men and women – were held between 29 August and 2 September at the Verlaguet Aquatic Center. Pacific Games
The Pacific Games (French: Jeux du Pacifique), is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from Oceania. The inaugural Games took place in 1963 in Suva, Fiji, and most recently in 2019 in Apia, Samoa. The Games were called the South Pacific Games from 1963 to 2007. The Pacific Games Council (PGC) organises the Games and oversees the host city's preparations. Athletes with a disability are included as full members of their national teams. In each sporting event, gold medals are awarded for first place, silver medals are awarded for second place, and bronze medals are awarded for third place.
