Laois Junior A Football Championship
The Laois Junior Football Championships are the lower-tier Laois Club Football Championships. The Junior A and Junior B Championships use group phases then down to eight-four-two and the Junior C Championship operates similarly to the Senior Championship and Intermediate Championship by going for a straight knockout. Portlaoise are the title holders (2022) defeating Barrowhouse in the Final. Abbeyleix GAA
Abbeyleix St Lazerians is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Abbeyleix, County Laois, Ireland. The club grounds are called Fr Breen Park and the club colours are Primrose and Blue. History The club plays at senior level in hurling and has also won eight Laois Senior Football Championship titles, last of which came in 1919. Hurling is the main game in the club and Abbeyleix holds 8 Laois Senior Hurling Championship titles, the last of which came in 1949. Borris-in-Ossory GAA
Borris-in-Ossory GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in the small town of Borris-in-Ossory, County Laois, Ireland. The club colours are red and white and the club grounds are called O'Keefe Park. Formerly, primarily a hurling club, Borris-in-Ossory now operates solely as a gaelic football club. It amalgamates at all age levels with its neighbouring club, Kilcotton GAA, with which it competes in hurling as Borris-in-Ossory–Kilcotton GAA. The clubs however field separate Gaelic football teams, and compete as separate clubs in the Laois Junior C Football Championship. The Heath GAA
The Heath GAA is a Gaelic football, ladies' Gaelic football and rounders club in County Laois, Ireland, located to the northeast of Portlaoise. History The club was founded in 1888. Originally the club was known as St. Patrick's. The club colours were scarlet and grey but nowadays they are black and amber. The Heath have won 10 Laois Senior Football Championship titles, the last of which came in 1993. Ballyroan Abbey GAA was a Gaelic football club in Ballyroan, County Laois, Ireland. Founded in 1887, the club colours were sky blue and navy, originally having been royal blue with a dominant white V on the front. The club won eight Laois Senior Football Championship titles, the most recent of which was in 1992. It also won the second ever Laois Junior A Football Championship in 1907. In 2006, a number of Ballyroan players were part of the Ballyroan Gaels squad that won the Laois Senior Football Championship. Ballyroan Gaels was an amalgamation of the two neighbouring clubs, Abbeyleix GAA and Ballyroan. In 2007 the two clubs joined together to form the new Ballyroan Abbey GAA club. Leinster Senior Football Championship
The Leinster Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship and shortened to Leinster SFC, is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Noel Garvan
Noel Garvan is a former inter-county Gaelic footballer from County Laois. He plays for the St Joseph's club. He usually played at midfield for Laois and played a huge part in 2003 when Laois ended the 57-year wait for the Leinster Senior Football Championship title. Garvan emerged on to the scene in 1996 as part of the Laois minor team that won the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship title. Son of Tommy Garvan, himself no mean operator on a football field, Noel Garvan caught the eye with his spectacular high fielding as a minor and quickly progressed through the ranks picking up a Leinster U21 Football Championship medal in 1998 before adding a Sigerson Cup title to his honours list in 1999 when he also won the Player of the Tournament award with IT Tralee.
