Frances Lannon
Dame Frances Lannon DBE FRHistS (born 22 December 1945) is a retired British academic and educator. She was Principal of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, she was educated at Lady Margaret Hall ( BA) and at St Antony's College (DPhil). After teaching at Queen Mary's College and holding a Fellowship at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, she was in 1977 appointed Fellow and Tutor in Modern History at Lady Margaret Hall. She was Vice-Principal 1992–97 and became Principal in 2002. She retired on 30 September 2015. Lannon is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. In 2006, she was a visiting scholar at the Australian National University Research School of Social Sciences and Australian Consortium for Social and Political Research Incorporated Centre for Social Research. James Patrick Lannon
James Patrick Lannon (October 12, 1878 – March 13, 1953) was born in Alexandria, Virginia. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1902. He received the Medal of Honor for actions at the United States occupation of Veracruz, 1914. He was awarded the Navy Cross for service as commanding officer of in the Mediterranean Sea during World War I, served in World War II, and retired in 1947. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Medal of Honor citation Lannon was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1915. Citation: "For extraordinary heroism in battle, engagement of Vera Cruz, 22 April 1914. Lt. Lannon assisted a wounded man under heavy fire, and after returning to his battalion was himself desperately wounded." Nyles Lannon is a musician from San Francisco, California. Lannon makes music under the names Nyles Lannon; n.Lannon; and formerly recorded under the alias of N.LN. Style Lannon's music is a hybrid of homegrown acoustic folk, space rock and electronic aesthetics. Although sometimes described as a singer/songwriter, Lannon's music ranges subdued electronic pop to delicate finger picked acoustics to "glitchy" beats and soulful rock. N.LN, however, is mostly instrumental, abstract electronica. Ryan Lannon (born December 14, 1982) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman who last played for Vaasan Sport in the Liiga (Finnish Elite League). Playing career As a defensive-defenseman, Ryan was first selected to play with the U.S. National Development Team Program in the NAHL in the 1998–99 season. After one season Lannon left the development program and played two seasons of high school hockey in Massachusetts with Cushing Academy Penguins. Lannon attended Harvard University and played collegiate hockey in the ECAC from 2001 until 2005. After his freshman season, Ryan was drafted in the eighth round, 239th overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, joining fellow Harvard teammate and childhood friend, Noah Welch as a Penguins prospect.
