Langshaw Marble Lime Works is a heritage-listed remains of a former lime kiln at 12 Julius Street, New Farm, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built from to . It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 13 October 1997. History The lime kilns on the banks of the Brisbane River at New Farm, below Julius Street, appear to have been established in the late 1870s by Brisbane merchant James Campbell, who traded as James Campbell and Sons from 1882 and James Campbell and Sons Ltd from 1896, and who had established the Langshaw Marble Lime Works on the New Farm site by 1881. Capalaba is an urban locality in the City of Redland, Queensland, Australia. In the , Capalaba had a population of 17,333 people. 1893 Brisbane Flood
The 1893 Brisbane flood, occasionally referred to as the Great Flood of 1893 or the Black February flood, occurred in 1893 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The Brisbane River burst its banks on three occasions in February 1893. It was the occurrence of three major floods in the same month that saw the period named "Black February". There was also a fourth flood later in the same year in June. The river runs through the centre of Brisbane with much of the population living in areas beside the river. Albion is an inner north-eastern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Albion had a population of 2,296 people. James Gibbon
James Gibbon (1819–1888) was a land speculator and politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Council. Early life James Gibbon was born in 1819 in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. He immigrated to Victoria in 1852 and became a merchant. In 1860 he came to Brisbane and speculated in urban property. He amassed considerable land, including a large estate at Teneriffe land on which the heritage-listed Elder Smith Woolstore and Roseville house, were built. His own home Teneriffe House on the top of hill is also now heritage-listed. He is said to be the person who named the area ''Teneriffe'' after Tenerife in the Canary Islands. He was a member of the congregation of the Holy Trinity Church there. The Town of Brisbane was a local government area for Brisbane in Queensland, Australia from 1859 to 1903. History The Municipality of Brisbane was gazetted on 25 May 1859 and proclaimed by the Governor of New South Wales on 7 September 1859. The first local government area in Queensland, Brisbane was the only one incorporated prior to the establishment of Queensland as a separate colony.
