Langley Knights
The Surrey Knights are a Junior "A" ice hockey team based in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Harold Brittain Conference of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL). The Knights play their home games at the North Surrey Sport and Ice Complex. History The team was founded in 1999 in New Westminster as the Queen's Park Pirates, where they played their home games at the historic Queen's Park Arena until they relocating to the Sungod Arena in North Delta for the 2002–03 season, moving to North Delta, dropping the Pirates name and changing it to Flyers, to become the North Delta Flyers. The Flyers played three seasons before changing their name to Devils in 2005. The North Delta Devils relocated to the George Preston Recreation Centre in 2014, moved to Langley, dropped the Devils name and changed it to Knights, becoming the Langley Knights. The Ridge Meadows Flames are a Junior "B" ice hockey team based in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Harold Brittain Conference of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL). The Flames play their home games at Planet Ice Maple Ridge. Blaine Hallman is the director of Hockey Operations. Derek Bedard serves as the team's General Manager and Governor. Former NHL player, Brent Hughes is the Head Coach. John Negrin
John Negrin (born March 26, 1989) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Negrin was a third round pick of the Calgary Flames, 70th overall, at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft; he played only three games with them and has spent the majority of his career playing in the American Hockey League. Playing career As a youth, Negrin played in the 2002 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from North Vancouver. A graduate of the Western Hockey League (WHL), Negrin played the 2008–09 WHL season with the Kootenay Ice and Swift Current Broncos. Benjamin Jeffrey Maxwell (born March 30, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre who is currently playing with Linköping HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Playing career As a youth, Maxwell played in the 2001 and 2002 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from North Vancouver. Maxwell was selected 49th overall in the second round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. While playing with the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League, Maxwell signed a three-year entry level contract with the Canadiens on March 1, 2008. Colton Gillies (born February 12, 1989) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger. He spent time playing for both the Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL. Gillies spent the last five years of his professional career playing overseas, most notably spending time in the KHL playing for Dinamo Riga. He is the nephew of NHL hockey player Clark Gillies. The Chilliwack Jets are a Junior "A" ice hockey team based in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Harold Brittain Conference of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL). The Jets play their home games at the Sardis Sports Complex. History The team was founded in 1965 in Chilliwack. They were one of the original six teams in the West Coast Junior Hockey League which later became the now known Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL). The Jets won the league championship in 1970. The league was again revived in 2020 when PJHL announced that it is awarding an expansion franchise to Chilliwack making it the 13th team in the league. The Richmond Sockeyes are a Junior "B" ice hockey team based in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. They were named the "Sockeyes" by the original owner and longtime Richmond resident and B.C. hockey volunteer and leader Bruce Allison in 1972. Allison was motivated to bring top-level junior hockey to Richmond while also encouraging local players to play closer to home and stay in school.
