Chauncey Langdon
Chauncey Langdon (November 8, 1763July 23, 1830) was an American politician, lawyer and judge. He served as a United States Representative from Vermont. Early life Langdon was born to Ebenezer and Katherine (Green) Langdon in Farmington in the Connecticut Colony. Pursuing classical studies, he graduated from Yale College in 1787. He then studied at the Litchfield Law School and with Judge Sylvester Gilbert, of Hebron, Connecticut, and was admitted to the bar. He began the practice of law in Castleton, Vermont. Career Langdon became an active Federalist. He practiced law in Windsor, but later returned to Castleton. He served as the Rutland County Register of Probate from 1792 to 1794, in 1796, and again in 1813. He was Judge of Probate in 1798 and 1799. In 1808 he served on the state Executive Council. Oliver Langdon is an educator and former political figure in Newfoundland and Labrador. He represented Fortune Bay-Cape La Hune in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1989 to 2007 as a Progressive Conservative and then Liberal member. He was born in Seal Cove, Fortune Bay and educated at Memorial University. Langdon married Margaret Loveless. Stephen Murray Langdon (born December 23, 1953) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger. He played seven regular-season National Hockey League games with the Boston Bruins between 1975 and 1977, recording one assist. He also appeared in four games with the Bruins during the 1976 NHL playoffs. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1973 to 1979, was spent in different minor leagues. Stephen Herbert Langdon (1876May 19, 1937) was an American-born British Assyriologist. Born to George Knowles and Abigail Hassinger Langdon in Monroe, Michigan, Langdon studied at the University of Michigan, participating in Phi Beta Kappa and earning an A. B. in 1898 and an A. M. in 1899. Following this he went to New York's Union Theological Seminary, graduating in 1903, and then on to Columbia University to obtain a Ph.D. in 1904. Langdon then became a fellow of Columbia in France (1904-1906), during which time he was ordained as a deacon of the Church of England (1905) in Paris. Subsequently, he moved to Oxford University in England (where he was a member of the Jesus College Senior Common Room though not a Fellow), becoming a Shillito reader in Assyriology in 1908, a British citizen in 1913, and after the retirement of Archibald Sayce, a Professor of Assyriology in 1919. Samuel Langdon (January 12, 1723 – November 29, 1797) was an American Congregational clergyman and educator. After serving as pastor in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he was appointed president of Harvard University in 1774. He held that post until 1780. Life Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1723, Langdon attended Boston Latin School and graduated from Harvard in 1740. While teaching in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he studied theology, and was licensed to preach. In 1745, he was appointed chaplain of a regiment, and was present at the capture of Fortress Louisbourg. On his return, he was appointed assistant to Reverend James Fitch of the North Church of Portsmouth. Early life Langdon was born on 1 May 1972 in Leeds. When he was young, he and his older brother Antony joined the Leeds Parish Church choir; the two of them would later found Spacehog in 1994, with Antony playing rhythm guitar in the band.
