Landwasser Viaduct
The Landwasser Viaduct (german: Landwasserviadukt) is a single-track six-arched curved limestone railway viaduct. It spans the Landwasser between Schmitten and Filisur, in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Designed by Alexander Acatos, the Landwasser Viaduct was constructed between 1901 and 1902 by Müller & Zeerleder on behalf of the Rhaetian Railway, which both owns and operates it through to the present day. A signature structure of the World Heritage-listed Albula Railway, it is high, long; its southeastern abutment connects directly to the Landwasser Tunnel. During 2009, the Landwasser Viaduct underwent renovation work for the first time since its original construction. Landwasser Tunnel
The Landwasser is a river in Switzerland, canton of Graubünden. Its origin was Lake Davos before this was turned into a reservoir for a power station. Nowadays it is prolonged by the creek Flüelabach at its source and changes its name near Davos Dorf. The town of Davos is the largest, uppermost, and, except for the last bit, the only larger settlement on the river. Landwasser empties into the Albula below the village of Filisur. Davos Platz (Rhaetian Railway Station)
Davos Platz railway station is a railway station in the municipality of Davos in the district of Prattigau/Davos in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It is the terminus of the Landquart–Davos Platz railway and the Davos Platz–Filisur railway. Northbound, there is an hourly service towards Landquart. Southbound, there is an hourly service to Filisur. The station also serves as a hub for local bus services. Davos Dorf station is located about 2.5 km northeast of Davos Platz. The Schmittentobel Viaduct (german: Schmittentobel-Viadukt) is a single track limestone railway viaduct. It is situated near Schmitten, in the Canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. The viaduct was opened in 1903 by the Rhaetian Railway, which still owns and uses it today. An important element of the World Heritage-listed Albula Railway, the viaduct is high, long, and has seven spans, each in length. Location The Schmittentobel Viaduct forms part of the Albula Railway section between Tiefencastel and Filisur.
