Landskrone (Ahr)
The Landskrone in the borough of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate is a hill, , in the Middle Rhine area. It used to be called the ''Gimmiger Berg'' and ''Gymmicher Kupp'', but is now named after the ruins of the imperial castle of which are found on its heights. On the western hillside of the Landskrone is the Chapel of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour (''Maria-Hilf-Kapelle'') or St. Mary's Chapel (''Marienkapelle''). Nierstein
Nierstein is a town belonging to the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' Rhein-Selz in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography Location Nierstein lies in Rhenish Hesse on the Rhine between Mainz and Worms. In Nierstein the Flügelsbach empties into the Rhine. Neighbouring municipalities Nierstein's neighbours are Dexheim, Dienheim, Nackenheim and Oppenheim. Geology Around Nierstein Permian deposits (Rotliegend times) crop out in which 290,000,000-year-old animal tracks can be made out. Above Nierstein lies a hillside vineyard described as a “Red Slope”, made as it is a part of the Rotliegend, which stretches from northern Nackenheim to western Schwabsburg. Landskrona (old da, Landskrone) is a town in Scania, Sweden. Located on the shores of the Öresund, it occupies a natural port, which has lent the town at first military and subsequent commercial significance. Ferries operate from Landskrona to the island of Ven, and for many years there was also a connection to Copenhagen. Landskrona is part of the Øresund region. It is the seat of Landskrona Municipality. Landskrona is also the name of a district in Landskrona Municipality which is slightly smaller than the urban area. History The city of Landskrona is usually claimed to have been founded in 1413 by the King of Denmark, Eric of Pomerania, as a trading city intended to compete with Danish towns under the control of the Hanseatic League. There is however evidence found in the Danish National Archive, which mention the town by the name "Landzcrone" already in 1405.
